Not that I'm aware of, I'm running firefox in safe mode with no addons or extensions. I suppose it could be due to only 500meg ram but I don't know for sure.

Yes i checked and that is what i did in the first place, get ver 8 off the website....i have no add ons as such - a yahoo toolbar and a avg safe search....to be honest theres not much n here as it is new and so am i lol

any more ideas? i'd be most appreciative

I found the same problem and so I had no choice but to go back to version 2.x.x.x ... I managed to find it on www.oldversion.com

I have firefox 3 and avg8 installed on both my new vista and my old xp machines with no problems at all!
