Firefox.

Whilst using firefox3.01 when I need to go into 2 or more tabs it closes and needs to restarted. I'm using it in safe mode at present but it still has the same problem. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Have you tried reinstalling it - you won't loose any of your settings. I haven't been having any problems with that build and my laptop is awful!

Try creating a new profile and see if you have the same problem with the new one.

Close Firefox completely and wait a min to make sure it's fully closed.
From the start menu, click Run
Type in firefox -p

The profile manager should appear and let you create a new profile

Try to do an un-install and reinstall, your download copy may be corrupted.

I have been having a bad time of it with firefox lately, I did upgrade to that version but it wasn't compatible with my AVG anti virus so I went back to the previous version. But it still closes down an awful lot- annoyingly when I click on a link / try to open another page etc.....I have no idea why!!! :mad:

Have you updated to the newest version of AVG? to get version 8 you need to go to their website - I don't think it auto-updated to it. That may help, Kai'sMummy.

Thanks for the reply, I have downloaded a new copy and reinstalled it after cleaning up the system with Ccleaner but no difference unfortunately. Using Avira after uninstalling Avg.

Tried this thanks, but no different.

Any further thoughts appreciated, meanwhile its Opera for Ebay etc.

Sometimes this happens because of incompatible or poorly written add ons.
You could try uninstalling any you have and seeing if that helps.

Thanks for the suggestion but I have already tried that one when I was in safe mode and unfortunately it made no difference.

I will try that tomorrow when i am less tired, thanks for the suggestion...if I am still having probs after that I will get back to you if that's ok.

I have had a similar problem, is there something in particular that you do to cause it to crash? One of my extensions was crashing mine when I dragged anything in the browser...
