Thanks so much, I knew I could rely on all of you!
If I remember correctly, is Mother Hubbards in Westborough?
I'm still stuck for a fancy tea, we leave the town at 5pm, still open to offers!
Thanks againFiliss0 -

Bank holiday monday, scarborough? Not sure were you are coming from but if you are travelling on the A64 from York / Leeds then set off early. The road is an absolute nightmare after York. It goes from a dual to a single carriageway with dual carriageways in places. I can probably guarantee that this road will be busy. Set off early.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0

Thanks, Chalky,
My partner is recovering from a major operation so this is a day trip by bus from Darlington, by car an hour and a half, by bus well over two, via Whitby, but it really doesn't matter, the change of scenery will do!
Thanks to everyone for their help.
Regards

However, it's still better than using other routes. It's the widest, longest stretch of road in the area. I've tried various other routes on bank holidays and they're all at complete standstills, so I'd stick with the A64.0 -
best ice cream ever is the harbour bar on the front, like a 1950s time warp and they do lovely sundaes and horlicks etc. not posh but a perfect place for a lovely treat'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0
