get the BlackBerry Bold from Orange, its 3G, email straight to your handset so you dont have to log in or send/recieve as soon as it hits your inbox its sent to your handset, plays mp3's & WAV files ( WAV is the nearest you wil get to CD quality - ripped from a CD, but without Windows ( bloatware ) Mobile ! ) Skype, Opera ( the BB browser is excellent ) Yahoo Messenger and most popular programs are available as BB is built to accept Java applications
£2.50 for BB add on ( email & browsing ) with ANY current Orange Animal plan
email/browsing is done via BB own servers so you find surfing quicker than a regular mobile where the system slows at Orange servers, Orange pass the connection to BB servers
and with the BB servers to Orange servers to your handset connection being 3G, well your laughing
the bold looks good, I'll have aproper look at it in a shop.
i need it to be on O2 or vodafone, travellign to the back of beyond in the north of scotland only allows for these 2 for guranteed reception.
I read there is to be a blackberry thunder, october, on vodafoneTwo Pound Coin Savings club - Started 11/2/06 - £550 banked so far :T0 -
i wonder if apple will make anotehr software update to allow the transfer of pics/tones via bluetooth.
IMHO they won't - it opens up avenues for practically untraceable file sharing (if you have to do it over the 'net someone will have a record of the data passing through). The issue is the Bluetooth driver written for the iPhone which has only the headset profile built in.
If we're lucky, someone in the iPhone hacking community is working on a replacement Bluetooth stack which will contain the necessary profiles for file transfer/A2DP capabilities - these would require a jailbroken iPhone, though.0 -

The short advice is, don't. Data roaming is the next big thing for overcharging, now that the EU is restricting the costs of roaming calls and texts.
If the iPhone is unlocked you could, of course load a local pre-pay SIM and pay the local data access rates. I would not suggest getting an iPhone for this purpose, though, since the 3G model cannot be unlocked at this time. (Yes, I am aware of the TurboSIM and vaarious other SIM card tricks for unlocking, however I don't consider them true unlocks of a phone)0 -
Thanks - I'd forgotten about using pre-pay sims, and seems that might be my best option.0

snowgo,
many places abroad (McDonalds in France and Spain for example) have free wi-fi available for their customer's use. So using the iPhone is a great solution for internet access on the continent....and then the window licker said to me...0
