yeh iv got a £125 credit spend, right what next?
Hi,
I would imagine the you probably have enough credit checks against you just now so I would concentrate on maintaining this account well. Order something that you want and/or need and then pay it off in full at the end of the month.
Keep your account in order for 6 months and then apply for something like a capital one card or halifax standard card. Again keep this up to date for 6 months and you should get a good current account.
Probably best to set up a direct debit so you don't miss payments.0 -
http://www.homeshoppingdirect.com/home.jsp.
follow the link and click register, then click step 3, fill in the dtails and you are instantly told, you can use about 15 catalogues with that account. they are all displayed on the home page.0 -
iv just turned 18 and have been declined for a barclays overdraft and inital cc meant for people with bad ratings. so dont really know what else to do, is there a possibility of being turned down by catalogue companies? i spoke to my bank; hsbc and they said come back and talk to us in a few months
hiya, i would think again about applying for so much, as youve just started out,and youre only 18, just take things one at a time. applying for things such as bank accounts, catalogue accounts will put searches on your credit file, which in turn takes points off your credit score unfortunately.
try going for simple accounts that will still report to your credit files that youre in credit, i really dont see why you need to have an account with an overdraft facilty on just yet, build up a nice little credit file with what you have, and get yourself ahead that way0 -
No i didnt want one for my self just was curious i,m happy with the 1 ive got
No interest for 3 months so i pay shop price, don't use it much it,s just handy

I have had a Littlewoods catalogue for about 1 yr that started out at £300 limit and is now at £750, and I applied for a Kays one,not knowing they were the same company, just a different brand, and was given a limit of £750. So, just as an experiment really, I applied for every catalogue they do, and was accepted by them all, with a limit of £600, but I applied for one using my FULL christian name, rather than the abbreviation i usually use, and was accepted but only with a limit of £200, which did surprise me. I also have a next account too which automatically gave me a store card to charge things to my account but buy the goods in the shop. So, in total I have 9 catalogues with a total available credit line of £5550, but im not stupid enough to use it all!! I like the convenience of home shopping, and the buy now, pay next year deals they sometimes do, comes in very handy at xmas! And im hoping by making small purchases and keeping a running balance it will improve my credit rating even more.
CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0 -

You may not be stupid enough to use all your credit, but what's just as important when it comes to credit history is the amount of available credit you have at your disposal and what % of that credit is actually being used.
The more credit you have the more likely you are to get smaller limits/refusals when applying for future credit.0 -

Yes, you're spot on there!
Littlewoods are starting to really annoy me by upping my credit limit with them on an almost monthly basis. Just this morning I received a statement from them and the limit has risen again to £6000
I also have accounts with LX Direct and Empire Stores (who now belong to Littlewoods also) and between the three of them I have over £12,000 credit available, yet only owe them £300
No wonder I got turned down for 3 new credit cards recently “You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
