Car insurance for loads of cars?
Well, 'loads' might be pushing it a tad, but I might end up with five cars before too long and I really want to keep insurance costs down to a minimum.
At the moment I've got three all insured on seperate policies, but was wondering if there's a more cost effective way of doing it. I know of multi-car policies from the likes of Admiral, but they've never been too competitive.
Any ideas?

www.ecarinsurance.co.uk allows you to add multiple cars to a policy (although it's not clear whether doing so gives a discount of any kind). However, I wonder if you might be better off with something like a dealer policy?0

I'm definitely not a dealer, just a petrolhead! Of course, if such a policy suits and is financially viable, that may be worth a look.0

I doubt if you'll get a trade policy unless you are a dealer. Some of the classic car insurers have fleet type policies for people who a few cars. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
There are now a couple of mainstream insurers who will insure multiple cars, as you have noticed Admiral is one of them. The alternative is to ask brokers for a tailor made quote for your multiple cars, they know the right people to approach for this. One of them is Primo

but any broker will tell you if they cn get you a multicar quote.0 -
We've got a family fleet policy through a broker. The brokers name is Towergate Insurance and the scheme is insured by Equity Red Star.
At the moment we have 7 vehicles insured for a premium of just over £2,200. To give an idea of value-for-money: the most expensive share of that premium goes to my sister who drives a MINI Cooper and lives in Manchester and she pays £550. The rest of the premium is accounted for by 2 Mercs, 2 MPVs and 2 CorsasThe man without a signature.0
