I like the gallery bit anyway...

So expect all auctions to be paid by paypal at the end of the bidding process, weather you like it or not...
It's nice how ebay looks out for its customers like this, what with massive fee increases and now, for the sake of customer safety (of course) making paypal the only option for private sellers or small business sellers..."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

I hope eBay crashes and burns, I really do.0

I can see this killing off the pre-owned DVD and CD market on ebay though - margins are tight enough on these even when using the 3p SIF listings to park unsold items, but if listing fees are going to be 20/40p per item, then I can't see many sellers perservering.
Unless of course selling prices rise - but it's the buyers who end up worse off then.
Yep - it's me done for. I've been making a good living selling CD singles for between 50p and £2 on average from my shop. There's no way it'll be worth my while listing them anymore now at 20p a go.
Not sure what to do now - I've just gone part time at work because I was making enough money doing this to justify it and wanted to increase!0 -
well if the above is true, i hope ebay also change procedures so that all buyers have to pay first to secure their purchase (like on amazon marketplace) rather than allow them up to 7 days to pay...get rid of all the numpty non payers :mad:Brooker_Dave wrote: »"eBay is moving to an electronic Checkout system, banning checks, money

Well, that's me out of the eBay game then. I'll be selling down my whole stock as quickly as possible with BINs and best offers before this kicks in. Fortunately I was thinking of winding down anyway as I've just started a new job that takes up a lot more of my time.
I don't mind cashing in, I've made a few bob and am happy enough with that. Totting up, I'll probably get about £1k - £1.5k for everything I've got left at the moment. That can sit happily in an ISA and earn me money for doing nothing
Perhaps, one day, eBay will realise that turning their site into a massive homogenous warehouse is a rubbish idea. I won't be going back there, for sure. If I want generic goods there's plenty better, cheaper, more reliable places to get pretty much anything than from than eBay.For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -

I've jumped the gun somewhat. It'll be 10p not 20p and there'll be increased visability, which coupled with the free gallery picture should just make it ok to continue.
*sigh of relief*0 -
If I have got this right its only 40p for a BIN
I may have to change all my items to auction style listing I don’t really think this will work with what I sell but its worth a go save me 25p per item if I only have to pay 15p0 -
One good thing to come out of today's news - seems to me that any big players giving poor service can't simply buy higher visibility depending on how deep their pockets are.
For example, you can't have an Anchor Shop unless you achieve DSRs of 4.6 or higher across all measures, can't even have a Featured Shop without DSRs of 4.4 or higher. Can't buy listing visibility with 'Featured First' unless you can achieve 4.4 or above.
For the location abusers and ridiculous P&P brigade this should be seriously bad news unless they clean up their act. I just checked one particular product line, and none of the 5 biggest sellers would be able to have an Anchor Shop based on current ratings. Only 2 (who are being honest about their location but shipping from HK) would be able to have a Featured Shop.
This at least is a very smart move by Ebay IMHO and should be good for site credibility.
The other little snippet to consider is that search ranking (in Best Match at least) will be helped by the amount of items sold per listing. In theory this should discourage sellers from whacking on loads of duplicate listings and flooding the site. If the ranking works properly it will make more sense to concentrate sales on one listing per item to improve search position.
I can't see much good news for the small seller of one off items though, no matter how hard I look. Auction format seems the only way forward, and even that has become a bit more expensive on FVF's.0
