How can i get a 'new user' deal even though i'm currently a customer?

Hi,

I'm currently a customer with Vodaphone and my contract is now able to be renewed. However, they aren't offering me a deal nearly as good as the ones they are offering new customers via their website. Even less attractive if you take into account i can use quidco.com to get cashback as well.

Does anyone know whether i can cancel my contract completely then start a new contract with them so i can get one of their deals? For work purposes i also need to keep the same phone number.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Paula

  • They should offer you the deals on the website at the very minimum. To go down the quidco rroute I think you would need to cancel, Port your number into a PAYG, take a new voda contract and port your number back in again. If they are unwilling to offer you a good deal, ask for your PAC code and go with someone who will.

Tell them you are leaving & ask for your PAC - they will then do their utmost to stop you from leaving. Investigate some good deals and quote these to them. Hopefully they will match or beat those offers.

I was in exactly the same position as you, I contacted them and got my pac, then the disconnections dept contacted me but their best offer was 1/2 price line rental and no new phone. I declined, took out a sim only deal with virgin costing £15 pm 300 mins and 300 texts, I am about to get my pac from virgin and going through quidco will get a free phone, free line rental, and some cashback all back on vodafone

Does anyone know what the minimum time is you can be on a PAYG?
For example If I ring up today with my PAC and ask to port my number and they say it will be ported next Monday, what day can I ring up to get my PAC from the PAYG I'm porting to?

As a new customer you should be able to get much better deals than new customers so long as you speak to the right department - that being outbound retentions. They call people who have already asked for their PAC and have far more discounting power than upgrades or new connections. At the very least you should expect half price line rental plus a phone from them. Read through this thread and it'll give you a good idea of how it all works and what to expect:
