iphone - CPW or o2 Direct?

Have decided to take the plunge and get an iphone having played with a few of my mates phones.

Only question is am I best to get it directly from o2 or CPW? Or is there no difference

I am currently on a CPW Orange contract that expired 2 months ago.

TIA

    In Order of preference

    Apple Store
    O2
    CPW

  • I got mine from CPW, purely because it was closer and they already had all of my details from my last contract, so it was all done quicker. I would however definitely agree with the post above regarding the order in which you should go.
  • Thanks for teh quick replys out of interest why is the apple store better than CPW? Better service?

Any extras and does it affect any kind of warranty?

yeah i'd like to know that to!

at the mo i can buy one from CPW's website and since i don't work near any shops, it would be handy!
  • You'll get everything the same regardless of where you buy it, but Apple are very good when it comes to aftersales and general customer service. CPQ are crap when it comes to taking stuff back, I believe that Apple will still look at/repair your phone if faulty, but ultimately if it needs to be replaced I believe this is down to the company you bought it from to replace. If someone can tell me differently then please do.

I had a faulty iPhone, took it back to CPW after seven days, they wanted to keep it for a few days to look at it. I said I'd cancel the contract as I was within 14 days, only then did they replace it. With Apple, you can book an appointment with a genius and the problem will generally be sorted one way or another there and then.
  • Ok, I just called Apple, they'll take it back and replace it if it's a warranty issue, if anything goes wrong and you want a refund, you have to take it back to the point of sale, if this is CPW this will be very hard work!

Right looks like it may be worth a trip into town to the apple store then, bit of a PITA as there is a CPW and o2 shop just down teh road, but for a bit of piece of mind its probably worth the trip.

If I'm going to the apple shop do i need to get my PAC code from my current provider (CPW-Orange) before I go, or will they sort it all from me there and then?

In answer to your initial question, I recommended Apple shops as
    1. They appear to have more phones then anyone else
    2. You have the option of a white 3G 16Gb iphone
    3. The whole buying experience will be better
    4. Support and AfterCare will be miles better than CPW (O2 to be fair have been goodf in my opinion)
Re the PAC, You'll need to contact Orange to get this, it takes a few days as they send you a letter with it (you can try and get them to give it you over the phone) If you can get it before you go there then great. If not O2/Apple just give you a temp number and you'll have to phone o2 to get your number ported across. No truama either way

Enjoy your iphone mate, I love using mine it's a lush device , you won't be disappointed.

    Hi all,

I will be getting an iphone too... just wondering if there is any possibility (im sure someone must have tried) of apple store or o2 shop throwing in something in when you go for the iphone e.g. a case for the iphone?

Quite likely not with O2, definitely not with the Apple Store (they regard themselves as a 'premium' brand so you don't get anything from them; you could try, though).
