no hot water...

ok, this is a weird one.

I have a gas CH combi boiler. all summer I have had it come 'on' a couple of times a day, but the heating dial is down to nothing, so it's only hot water.

tonight went to do washing up, and no hot water. I ran the tap for ages, nothing.

however- the radiators were on full! none of the dials on the boiler had been changed.

I've rung Scottish Gas (service agreement) and they are coming out tomorrow pm. Now my daughter lives with me and she is five days overdue her first baby, so it would be just the thing that she goes into labour..or they tell me the boiler is condemned.

As I am a mum on my own, does anyone have any ideas of what is wrong and what kind of verdict they are likely to fob me off with?

many thanks.

theres a valve that senses when the hot water is turned on and diverts the flow of water

I suspect this is stuck or has a small pinhole in it

part is anywhere from £30 to £150 depending on the make/model

there isn't a green but the pointy thing is down between 0 and 1 on the scale- that's too low, isn't it?
