Well, if it was one of our properties left in that state, frankly I would be celebrating!!!
I don't know what you would do if you took back a property in the state we have sadly come to expect these days. All I can see there quite honestly is a few hours work cleaning, repairing and touching up paintwork. It's all part of the job of being a LL.
I suspect you haven't had much experience in letting properties? For a start, we would never ever contemplatge putting light coloured carpets everywhere...thats just asking for trouble. Believe me, things could have been far far worse.0 -
They probably removed the radiator so they could fit a washing machine or tumble dryer in.
As others have said I have seen much worse properties. Its hardly "destroyed". Yes there is some damage and marks on the walls and carpets, but I bet it would look loads better after a bit of a tidy and a clean. The loo, sink and bath looked reasonably clean too."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -
!!!!!!, stop your moaning. It doesn't look that bad, and the broken fence is your responsibility.poppy100

Although I can understand your annoyance, I think you have put yourself in an exceedingly vulnerable position by posting this on a world wide site such as You Tube. Your argument was with them and presumably you took a deposit to cover the costs of cleaning and redecorating.
You have laid yourself wide open to an action for defamation since you have both slandered (spoken word) and libelled (written or published word) them. You have even gone so far as to identify their business and/or it's location.
In your shoes, I think I would be looking to remove that video asap and seeking the advice of a good solicitor. Frustrating though that dirt/damage may be, I believe that you have only achieved one thing and that is to make yourself look vengeful and inept.0 -

Some damage, but most of minor things IMO.
Scuff damage and paint going yellow is quite normal.
Have you ever seen a toilet that has never been cleaned? Radiator - just buy a new one and bolt it on. Repressurise the heating.
They left you a laptop though!
The video needs editing down to 1 minute.Happy chappy0 -

My daughter moved into an unfurnished place in a much worse state than that - kitchen drawers hanging off, absolutely disgusting oven, damp in the bedroom ceiling from a flat roof leak and the paint on the walls was appalling - filthy. And the toilet defied description.
She took it, decorated it herself - a couple of 5 gallon containers of magnolia goes a long way, we cleaned the carpets, oven and toilet (with a professional acid cleaner), OH fixed and painted the bedroom ceiling. The LL came round to see her and was so delighted he gave her 6 weeks rent free !!
She stayed in it a year - the day she moved out we spent cleaning all the gloss work, bathroom, toilet, kitchen etc, it was immaculate, she moved back home, leaving behind washing machine (donated by a friend), curtains (donated by me), fridge (friend), blinds (bought herself)
The next tenants absolutely trashed it and I mean trashed - banister rails ripped off, built in oven ripped out, cat pee and worse all over the carpets, kitchen door taken off. They also took everything that was removable out.
We only know this because she still visits her old next door neighbour. apparently it will cost a few thousand to sort out.
So, I guess you were quite lucky it could have been a lot worse. A bit of mess is nothing, even replacing a radiator is nothing, you could probably do that yourself, and unless you're an expert with flatpack furniture you're wasting your time - we have flatpack stuff OH put together years ago and it's still going strong. Son's GF bought flatpack pine drawers for her girl's room and put them together herself and within a couple of weeks some of the handles and drawer fronts had come off.0 -
Why is it unreasonable to expect people to leave a house how they found it?
Maybe the reason some houses are rented out in a state is because the landlords are fed up with them being destroyed ( and no i'm not a landlord)
Just because people do trash houses is no reason to accept it happens0 -
Wow, can we say potential slander and libel if you don't have absolutely foolproof evidence that it was them who left it in that state? After all, there's no way of telling from the video or from what you say that you or someone else hasn't trashed it (not that I think you have!) Regardless of what the individuals have done, I imagine the company you named could take it up separately and get you in a whole load of trouble. Also, if you're a company you may want to be worrying about the data protection act, I'd've thought. Publishing personally identifiable information without someone's permission is very serious!
I agree that there should be some kind of way of sharing information on truly awful tenants, but it needs to be something that's legally acceptable. Posting a video like that makes you seem really unprofessional and could land you in more trouble than they're in.0
