help - why are the mobile companies not negotiating?

i hope someone can give me some advice here. Am i doing something wrong?
I cannot seem to get any of the mobile phone shops or companies to offer me any deals which are not already in print.
18 months ago when i eventually moved from orange to 3 they were tripping over themselves to get my business - now they don't seem bothered. I have had a fruitless couple of calls to 3 (the last one lasting 30 mins) where the guy kept just repackaging the same deal. E.g. instead of paying £2 extra/mth on top of the tariff for the phone wanted he told me i could pay a one off price of £36. As if I can't divide £36 by 18 mths to come up with £2/mth. Then he told me I could pay it next mth. I even asked for my PAC code.
The none of the shops in town (carphone warehouse, orange, vodafone) seem bothered about attracting my custom.
Is there something I am missing?
Thank you all.

To get the best retention deals from 3 you first must give them your notice to quit, then don't blink when they contact you during the notice period (until the call that comes 2 days or so prior to the disconnection.)0

Very cunning - but what a pain to wait 30 days. The screen of my phone is on the blink and I can't see a thing so wanted a new phone quick.
The worst thing that can happen is that I have to get my number transferred quickly to another network near the end of the 30 days - right?:A :A :A :A

If you want to stay with 3, then the worst thing that can happen is you call them the day prior to disconnection and agree to accept the deal they last offered!0
-
So so when your contract has a month to go-you give your 30 days notice to cancel wait until the last day accept/turn down their new offer? If you are not happy with the deal do you have to ask to revert to PAYGO and then ask for a pac code to move,or can you ask for your Pac code within the 30 days and then move to a new contract(looking at o2 and i need to take my number0

3 recently offered me (today infact) to continue my current price plan (150 mins/750 texts) but for £10/mo and with a free Nokia N95 8GB on a 12 month contract. Mind you I have had the same contract for a number of years.0

Is that not covered by the warrenty?MoneyGypsy wrote: »Very cunning - but what a pain to wait 30 days. The screen of my phone is on the blink and I can't see a thing so wanted a new phone quick.
Also, it's worth noting that network's high street stores never offer deals as good as direct sales. For example I know that if you ask Vodafone can offer any tariff half price over the phone.0 -
Hi Jimgee,
I doubt it is covered as I have been out of my contract since June.
Posted on the 3 retentions thread as well which I discovered after I posted this thread. rang them back and eventually gave my 30 days notice. They kept trying to give me rubbish deals that i could get online.
Told me that I could either cancel my contract or get my PAC - wasn't quite sure why that was so i just said fine cancel.
We will wait and see!!

3 Are crap! Thats the bottom line, if you want a good deal stick with O2 CPW.
Only if you are meticulous and don't mind doing cashback. Otherwise stick with Orange.0 -
