Current AOL deal in non-LLU area

Options
As per previous posts, I'm an AOL broadband customer paying 14.99 (out of contract) in a non-LLU area, but am wishing to pay less!

The best deal that cancellations offered me is 12.99 but that involves taking their talk package, which I currently can't because I'm tied in to a BT deal for calls.

I later called the sales department, and their current offer for AOL customers is to have a free line re-grade. I was on a 2MB speed package, and I think the offer means they will upgrade you to a max of 8MB, although I think only 6MB is available on my line. However, the key points about this are that everything remains the same on my account (price, unlimited downloads), and this includes NO CONTRACT.

I haven't seen this advertised anywhere, so just thought I'd make people aware.

Hope it helps.

I know when I was with them I took details and kept logs every time I talked to them including contract details you could use the online chat and make sure you are not tied in to a contract and keep it as proof so to speak if it goes wrong.

Also if you do leave them later with your mac code once you migrate over ring them up to let them know you have migrated and also get a reference as a few people have continued to be charged once they left and they could not find their details on the system so they had issues getting a refund.

I was with AOL before CPW took it over I left before the new contracts came out.

Thanks for that, I thought that was a good idea, but have ended up spending the last hour or so on their online chat trying to get this confirmation!

Initially they seemed to think my download cap was reduced to 10GB, and were adamant about this. So I phoned up again (0800 number of course!) and believe it or not, simultaneously had AOL on the phone telling me my download cap was unchanged at 40GB, and AOL on online chat telling me it's been reduced to 10GB!!!!

    Unbelievable!

Turned out, after being transferred a few times on their online chat, that I am indeed on the deal I expected.... the transcript of this chat will be printed/saved in a safe place!

    That was hard work.....

Absolutely right, I would erge anyone quitting AOL (as I have just done) to phone the cancellations department in Ireland once you have got your new ISP up and running, they will then give you a four digit reference code as comfirmation.

I tried e-mailing them to inform them that I had been successfully migrated to O2 and to de-activate my AOL account, but that caused total confusion, far better to phone.
