3 versus other networks
My dd has 6 months left to run on a contract with 3. We're thinking about getting out of the contract due to 1 minute billing issue but do the other networks still charge by the second and do they charge for itemized billing?
If other networks charge for 1st minute and itemized billing as well it might not be worth changing as we may be worse off.
My dd's contract: £18 for 150 mins, 750 texts, 25 video mins, 25 pic messages & £5 downloads.

I believe they're all the same. I had a reson for leaving Three, and that was the iPhone, however had I not wanted one of those I would have stuck with Three, as I think they're the best out there and have by far the best tariffs.
They offer very good retention deals as well, so may be worthwhile sticking it out to see what you get.0 -
o2 is the best network0

I am paying £20pm for 600 minutes, 1000 texts (1 picture message = 3 or 4 standard messages) and a choice of ...
unlimited texts
unlimited O2 to O2 calls
unlimited land-line calls
unlimited internet
on a 1-month contract on O2. As it has 600 minutes, this also has free paper billing (is 99p otherwise). This is a SIM only contract (so you will need your own unlocked phone, but if you are leaving three early I guess your phone will be quite recent and most phones can be unlocked for under £25) and is only available in August, after which it will be available for £25pm. If you want the same thing with a new handset, it will probably cost around £35.
O2's terms (under "Pay Monthly tariff terms & conditions (after July 2008)" -> General paragraph 6) and section 5.12 of the airtime agreement says...Unless otherwise stated, call prices include VAT, are quoted by the minute, and are charged in one second increments. Each call is charged excluding VAT and then rounded-up to the nearest penny. VAT is then added to the total of all charges on your bill.
so no 1-minute minimum charge.
I don't know if they do downloads, but you can usually get most of what they sell for free (without using P2P or some dodgy site) if you know what you are doing. As for video calls, they *might* be included in the minutes, but I never use them so have not found out.
Although some will disagree with me, I find customer services at O2 to be quite good and have certainly not heard as many complaints about O2 as I have about Three.
I am still with O2 although I have been a little tempted by some of T-Mobiles deals attached to the MDA Compact IV (aka the HTC Diamond) phone and I have not found Vodafone or Orange to offer contracts as well priced for the specification.*I reserve the right to have an opinion, the right to change this opinion and the right to be wrong.*Hope that helps.
