in Water bills
I recently heard on talkback radio a discussion about free water.
They were saying that if you have a child under school age that you are not obliged to pay for water! Did anyonelse hear this or know whether there is any truth in it?

as far as i am i no there are no excemptions to paying water rates ,not even the disabled or elderly get a discount .
but it would be very nice if it were true0 -
You do get a discount if you have 3 children or more or have a disability/illness that makes you use a lot of water and you are on a water meter.0

Maybe they were talking about the water company's not being
allowed to cut your water off if you don't pay
They can still use the normal tactics to recover the debit but
you will not get your water cut off0 -
People with certain illnesses can have their bills capped - ulcerative colitis is one.
The only free water anyone will get is by using water butts for the garden.0 -

That's interesting, I'd not heard of that. My life has been blighted by Ulcerative Colitis since I was 18 (I'm now pushing 60). Presumably that capping only applies to a metered water supply which I don't have.

Hi Jigs, I've moved your thread to the Water sub-board for a better response

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
Anglian Water Board do a LOW USER tariff, called SOLOW, maybe other regions offer this.0
