I think the folks most likely to be horrified by the OP's problem are Clarks themselves. They might not set the heather alight when it comes to their styling but they have made their reputation on good quality & hard wearing footware. And we recognise that by paying a little more for their shoes than we would normally do.
I agree with some of the other contributors. Take them back for a refund or replacement. I'd be really surprised if they don't respond favourably.
I've been using Clarks for donkeys years. Can't say I've had any problems with them at all. Have got into the habit of buying lighter Summer shoes in their Winter sale & rough n' tough Winter shoes/boots in their Summer sale.0 -
I am back from Clarks today, the email arrived after I had actually been to see them. I explained the problem to them, looked everywhere for my receipt but could not find it. They called HO (I told them I had emailed but had not yet received a reply) and they said if DD was the same size they would do a swap, if her feet had grown they would do 50%discount on a new pair. Fair do's!! Her feet had grown another 1/2 size so I got 50% on another pair.
Also, I went inot the store today and the one local to me does not have an increase on the shoes, the other one I went to in another town has the increase - there was £4 difference in the price of each pair shoes!! I do not have an outlet near me to make it worth the saving on the shoes, by the time I've done 100 mile round trip and spent £12 on petrol it kind of outweighs the £8 or so saving on them tbh.
DCF - These trainers are not the ones with the wheel in, they are called Daisy or YoToy and they have a toy in the heel of each shoes which them makes a little playset with other bits that come in the box. I ended up with another of these today as it was the only pair suitable for DD in her size.
I too have to admit that cheap trainers do not last and I would rather pay the money and get Clarks, but I am also going to see if I can find a Brantano - our local ones seem to have closed, just to have another option. In both clarks today I could only find one pair in burgundy to fit her, which are not really suitable for school, so I got the burgundy pair and a pair of Reeboks for school.
I take it all back and say a big Thank you to Clarks for the excellent service I received today. I had no idea they would take them back if they were a poor fit but the girl said to me I should have bought them back earlier and she could see how poorly that shoe had been made/fitted. I am a happy bunny.0 -
Surely if Clarks agreed that the shoes were poorly made/fitted, then you were entitled to a FULL replacment or refund not the 50% you got. You were not complaining about the size of the shoe but about it being fit for purpose - the fact that your DD's feet have grown is irrelevantThe Daily Mail

What they told me is that if her feet had not grown then I would have got a full replacement, but they had grown.
I did not have a receipt and I bought them in late May (despite this she had hardly worn them and they could see this) but I needed to get her new trainers anyway so that was fair enough.
I see what you mean about them being fit for purpose, I think it might have been different if I had taken them back earlier but I did not think I would be able to so didn't.
My daughter put the new ones on though and ran around the shop kicking her feet out shouting 'see mummy, they do not fly off anymore'.0
