you should let all the disabled people know how you manage to get all that money! my mother is disabled and struggles all year round, and doesn't get anything like that!
As for the parking issue which this thread was about!!!! the council are bang out of order! they should put a polite notice on the windscreens to say this is enforced now, as when you have parked there for many years, and you don't know anything about these changes, it is a shock to get a ticket! and £35 is a lot to anyone! especially the disabled! Well all it means now, is more parking on the yellow lines causing more congetion around the towns! And one more thing tell me how the travellers get away with parking on the car parks and not having to pay the fee, bet they never got parking tickets! Oh and another the immagrants parking on middle market road on an evening, on double yellows! they never get a ticket! yet my brother got a ticket and he had a parking permit! what is that all about, has the council got preferances!, So its one law for one, and another for another! Looks like you are best off being illegal nowadays!!!!!!!!!!
Paragraphs and punctuation please! That was hard going reading that. The man without a signature.0 -
Meanwhile, back to the main point.
Dont pay fight.
www.pepipoo.com have loads of advice about fighting unfair tickets and given the number you've mentioned you'll probably already find someones complained on there and had a shedload of advice.0 -
Also, perhaps the local newspaper would be interested in this story? Certainly, I'm sure the Daily Mail would be."In times of universal deceit, telling the truth will be a revolutionary act. "

My SIL has a blue badge and she's quite happy to pay to park but she get's really wound up when cars without badges park in the bays. Her OH pays road tax on their car as he uses it for work as well, but she thinks all disabled people should pay road tax as well, just like they have to pay fuel duty and income tax. When she see's a new merc or range rover with a free tax disc she says they are just taking the mickey.
Anyhow, this story has been in the news for some time locally already.

Nick Manthorpe, from North Norfolk District Council, said: “Disabled badge holders have the right to park in places where other drivers do not but in our car parks, which we have to maintain, we felt it was fair to charge everyone.
“The council felt that disabled drivers are not necessarily financially worse off and they are offered special allocated spaces.”
A spokesman for Great Yarmouth Borough Council said it had just finished a major renovation project on its car parks during which it had created more wide spaces for disabled drivers.
During consultation with disability groups before the work took place most had said they would be happy to pay for parking fees if it meant improvements.
And from back in 2005

The new scheme will see the wider bays available on car parks throughout the Borough, and they will be for use by anyone with a disabled car user badge.”
The scheme will also see car park charging introduced from April for anyone displaying a disabled persons parking badge, at the same rate as other car park users. At the moment it is free for up to three hours.

Having recently been on a bit of a touring holiday in particular in the south west of England, I am really surprised at the different car parking rules for disabled people on local authority car parks. Where we visited the rules ranged from:
Free for everyone
Everybody pays
Blue badge holders free but only if vehicle has a disabled tax disc
All Blue badge holders park free
Blue Badge hoders get a discount
Blue Badge holders (with Disabled Tax disc) get a discount
etc etc
I found the only way to check I was parking legally (ie whether to pay or not or even how much) was to fully read each set of notices on any particular car park.
Oh to have some consistency across the country (whether we pay or not)!!
