But we are discussing and posting instore coupons, not codes. IMHO as a serious couponer there is no comparison with the Tesco Codes thread nor the Boots codes thread. Tangible instore coupons are a completely different thing.

The best comparison for the printable COUPONS thread(s) would be the Magazine Coupons & Offers thread here, it's a shining example of how a combined chat/info coupon thread can work:

...it continues perfectly happily without having the first couple of posts by MBN being turned into some annoying separate sticky. And it is almost always on page one of this board so it's just as popular a thread.

AFAIK no-one moans that they get too many email alerts when someone posts on there - no-one has posted there to moan about the chat, ever. Everyone is happy to read the first post if they want an update and the last posts if they want to join in the chat. And the majority of posters on there are the same friendly users as those on this thread!

Its continued success is down to MBN, the OP, who is an extremely busy person - but she manages to do the regular updates by reading the whole of the chat on that thread.

If the magazine coupons thread doesn't need a separate sticky (which it doesn't) then why have one for this subject, please Browntoa?

You say that the 'last thing those users want is to wade through loads of chat to find there are no codes'. Well the last thing the rest of us want is the current unworkable 2 separate threads that's been foisted upon us by the minority. If anything is bound to cause bad feeling that would be it. Never mind the current misunderstandings mentioned above (for that is all they were) which I am sure are a short-term blip in an otherwise very friendly thread.

Are we regular posters less important than those who subscribe to a thread to get the easy info on a plate, but may never post? Such people may only be getting the info by email so they can get the links and sell their printouts on eBay within 24 hours of a new coupon coming out. It's the way Code Sellers work isn't it and MSE is making it easy for them!

Or is it that the OP of the No Chat thread may have - understandably perhaps - asked for it to be separate to make it easier to update, I wonder (that's what I suspect, maybe wrong though)? BTW many thanks to R4pture for starting the thread and trying to keep it updated. I am not criticising that thread nor trying to take it over - I know I couldn't do as good a job of it as R4pture does or indeed follow MBN's example. Got to be honest, I wouldn't have the time.

But has R4pture been asked if he/she would be happy to run a combined thread instead? If he/she wouldn't have the time to keep it up to date then I am sure there would be at least one poster here who would happily volunteer to start and attempt to keep updated, a new combined thread similar to MBN's magazine coupons thread - if they are allowed to?

This is a stupid justification. People going off on tangents can happen in any thread on any subject, and the spat above bears no relation to what we are really talking about - a coupons thread with posted links and then relevant chat about these coupons.

Why, browntoa, should messages to you moaning about chat in a coupon thread count more than a poll in which most people preffered it as it was?
Surely a poll of the people who read and participate in the threads (and who could be bothered to vote in such a poll) should count for something!

Spot on!! It is very interesting that many of the people that complain about chat in non chat have never posted anything useful. I feel that you have to earn the right to complain about the set up of things:T

As a newbie on here, I took offence at something which was not meant as inflammatory.... I just read it wrong!.
It is easy to do...with only the written words, different backgrounds/cultures and little available expression.
I apologised for my outburst, when I realised how the other post had been intended, and moved on.

I now (usually;)) re-read what I am posting before I inadvertantly upset someone. :eek: and usually avoid posting late at night after a drink:beer:.

But, it is a chat forum, and we won't necessarily always agree with each other.:cool:

As my dear old ma used to say "if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all"

Anyway.....the reason I logged in was to share again.......it's not a printable, but if you go to forgoodnesssshakes site they will send you (snail mail) 2 x NSS 20p MOC's .....this info was sent to me, by them, by email....the only mail I have had from them since they posted some MOC's last summer - so they don't spam.:beer:

p.s. If I offended anyone, it wasn't intended.....take a chill pill!

You made some rather questionable posts which were then removed, there are only 2 ways a post can be removed by the writer or a moderator after complaints this is fact, which is why I stated you OR a mod deleted them. You have since confirmed you deleted them, and I do know 2 complaints were made about them (advised to me in a PM) whether a mod would have deleted them as a result of the complaints we will never know.
My post though was 100% factual.
