Can someone help me please? Somewhere on the MSE forums I found a link to apply for a free eukanuba puppy pack. Duly it arrived with a voucher worth up to £13.99. I tried in Tesco but it was not accepted. Where can I use this voucher against my shopping without buying the product?

I do have a dog but he is not a puppy and I wouldn't use eukanuba anyway as they do horrid tests on animals - I am happy to use their voucher not to buy their food and in my own tiny way think of it as a small dent in their profits as an additional protest against their animal testing. I would like the shop to be able to get it's money back though. Thanks for any help.

ps I am a newish dog owner and was horrified to think of feeding my dog food that had been tested on other animals (not just taste tests)I had never even thought about it before and just stumbled on the information after I sent for the pack.

You can't use it in Tesco as they don't stock Eukanuba products.

I used mine in my local pets at home...didn't realise there was any ethical issues

    You can't I am afraid.

Where ever you try to offload it, they won't be able to get the money back from Eukanuba so the store will be taking a £13.99 loss when it bounces back from the coupon clearing house. No Supermarket has a legit stock of Eukanuba obtained from the supplier, AFAIK.

Anyhoo, the loss will be noticed in the cash office as it's caused by just one coupon - very noticeable. Depending on the Manager, such abuse could be the final straw to cause them to re-think the coupon policy in that store.

If you read the coupon it specifically says it's for 'specialist stores' which means a pet shop. If you have a nice friendly pet shop owner or a dippy pet shop cashier I suppose it might be possible to buy a lot of other dogfood and hand over the coupon - but I expect most wouldn't allow it. What Tesco and Waitrose allow is highly unusual, after all!

Why not do what others have done? Go to a pet shop, pick up the free dog food, use the coupon as it was intended then drop the Eukanuba off at your local Dogs' Trust, rehoming centre or PDSA?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Ahhh OK I didn't realise that supermarkets don't stock it. I got my dog from The Dogs Trust so I could do that but as far as I am aware they use Arden Grange food. I'll ring and ask. Thanks.

    Xmas Saver!
Our local store has stopped axccepting any internet / printed coupons, apparently its at store managers discretion, but as a lot of stores are getting duplicate (eg Mitchum and peartise there on ebay for sale in batches), they wont risk loseing any money.
