    they just ask you " have you got a mobile phone " and you say yes or no .
    If you want the light uses scheme you say I dont have a mobile phone .
    I did have the light user scheme many years ago .

    I am not sure this would work. BT went around the exchanges and reprogrammed all LU lines so that they could not use prefix codes [like '18866'] originally [in 2000]. They may have been adding to the exclusions ever since, and could be blocking certain 0800/0808 numbers also [Only way to find out is to try this on an exisitng LU line]

    BT may well block selective 0808/0808 numbers from LU's.

    Orange did much the same. The result was that the companies who operated 0800 access simply issued a new 0800 number.

    Could be - I've found a BT callbox that has certain calling card numbers barred.
