megabus complaint

    Hi,

    Me and my partner opted to take the mega bus as a cheaper option to travel from Bristol to London Victoria. Our journey up was brilliant (06.02.2012) however our return journey wasn't (07.02.2012) our train was due to depart at 18.30, we arrived at 18.15 and waited in the correct gate with all the other passengers the board above the gate was showing where our bus was going to stop etc. We waited there until 18.30 where we thought they would call for our bus and open the doors to board, nothing happened. We then saw a passenger run up to our bus, I went to the service desk at the Victoria station where I was ignored (while the advisors were having a chat) in the end I interrupted them, they told me my bus was leaving and I should run for it! I got to the bus just in time when the bus driver and assistant were so rude, they told us they can refuse our boarding and that they called 3 times, which if they did we would of heard seeing as we were stood in the correct gate for over 15 mins, after eventually them letting us on the bus the bus driver shouted at us 'shame on you' (I would think that was because the bus was 2 mins late letting us on). I work in retail shop which focus's mainly on customer service, and for me the service and organisation is appalling, I will never travel by mega bus again, in future I will travel by car which is a shame as using public transport helps the environment. How can I complain direct to mega bus as looking on their site there is no way to do so.

    i used the megabus after seeing it recommended on here and whilst i would agree victoria was a bit of a cattlemarket i cant rate the drivers or the company or more specifically the price enough
    10/10 from me and this was travelling in the pre xmas peak

  • Having recently sought tickets for a trip for myself and my elderly mother to travel by Megabus I was appalled to discover the website had duped me into booking one more ticket than I required.

    It asks "how many passengers?" - I entered 2
    "How many concessions?" - I entered 1

    Does that seem reasonable so far? Apparently not, because this books 3 tickets. This wasn't apparent until I completed the transaction and received the email.

    I complained to Megabus, whose immediate response (paraphrased) was "if you're too stupid to understand our site you should have called our premium rate number before you booked".

    I raised a complaint with Consumer Protection - who contacted the local office for the company in Perth. Apparently the website isn't misleading because when it shows the options it shows 3 seats = £24. I had read that to mean there were 3 seats available on that route at the price of £24, not that I'd just booked 3 tickets at that price!

    It appears there's no recourse. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has been caught out on this?

    I plan to use that route regularly over the next 4 years. I will not be using Megabus or Stagecoach again though. They've just lost a potentially valuable customer. I'll either drive (unfortunate for the environment, but I don't work with unethical organisations) or I'll go by train in future!

    Having now looked at a few sites, it seems everyone is complaining about this company on almost all sites... are the users the problem or is it the company?

    Careful... Stagecoach also run trains. :D

    Really, why complain - this is absolutely par for the course with Megabus. They have been a shonky operator from day one and will not change at all.

    And frankly, those who encountered rude/uninterested staff are the lucky ones - I was threatened with physical violence by one of their drivers and another of their staff managed to "accidentally" assault me.

    Never... Again....!
