You can get the first gen iphone for about 225 with v2.0 software (same as new iphone, minus the internet speed and built in gps), get a pay and go sim card on o2 for ease and get unlimited internet for £7.50 (i think)

£225 is for the 8Gb iPhone (compare with the 8Gb touch is £170-ish new). The 16Gb iPhone is both more expensive (£320+) and harder to find on eBay.
