Mobile Phone Warranty
My daughter has a new Nokia Phone but it developed a fault whereby it froze. She took it back to the T-Mobile shop from where it was bought thinking it was waranty job. T-Mobile have since returned the phone (which is now 6 month old) saying it is not covered by warranty as the fault is 'water damage' - well that phone has never been exposed to liquid of any kind, it has just been used normally. T-Mobile have told her either claim on her insurance (problem is that as for a claim you have to know an incident date but in her case she has no knowledge of an 'incident') or she can signup for a further 18 months, to start at the end of her current contract (making it 2.5 years!).
She suffered the same situation a couple og years ago but that was via the Car Phone Warehouse. Is this a scan to reduce warranty claims/claw some cash bach through the insurance excess or is it that the phones can not take normal use i.e moisture from breath? An interenet search suggests this is a common problem worldwide - others views are welcomed as I feel a challenge coming on.

The date of the incident is the date that the phone 'froze'.0

The Service centre should be able to give you a colour scan of the water damaged part of the phone.
Its not likely to be a scam - the service centre dont get paid for looking at the phone if they dont repair it, usually they charge you a £15 fee to get it back unrepaird so in that respect you are lucky
Doesnt have to be actuall water damage - could be moisutre from the shower, kitchen sink, she could have used it in the rain....0
