Moving House: Stay with Be or go with o2

Hi,
I've just moved house from where I've completley spoiled myself with Be's 24 broadband package. I just don't think I can go back to up to 8mbs again!
The transfer process for Be looks like a real horror show from what I've seen on forums and I will get hit with another £40 installation charge.
O2 have an up to 16mbps for cheaper monthly cost and no up front installation fee which is tempting (though slower).
A couple of questions:
Has anyone moved house with Be and is is as bad as stated?
Anyone with O2 recommend them and know how long connection would take?
New flat is 0.6 miles from exchange (according to moneysupermarket) any idea of what speed I can expect?
thanks for all advice

I'm fairly sure if you raise a ticket with be and explain the situation that they will normally waive the connection fee if you are just moving house. There is the issue that they can't do a move they admit that but I think they are clever enough to realise that they don't want to p!ss their customers off. I'd definitely check though as people have certainly had it refunded in the past(you could also get a referral from existing member(yourself even?) and do it that way?
I'd imagine an O2 connection will take as long as a Be one, the connection is done by BT engineers normally so whoever you choose it will be them doing the work at the exchange so as Be/O2 use pretty much the same back office stuff it will be going through the same order process whoever you choose.
hard to predict speeds based on distance without knowing what the line is like at the new place but at 0.6m you should be getting 18Mb+ I would have thought all things considered

the MSE view is O2, but the head view says Be for teh extra speed!0 -
Thanks Woby.
I'll chase Be on a confirmation of costs0 -
Hi Fischer,
Just to give you an idea of possible timescales with o2, we got our BT line back last Tuesday morning, applied for o2 BB 5pm Tuesday afternoon, router arrived Thursday, we were up and running 11am today.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Be broadband is owned o2, so either way you are going to get a good service. Both o2 and Be have been known for quick setup and response times

Difference between 02 and BE* is support and changes to your line for example BE* is more suited to gamers as they can enable fast path which turns off interleaving where o2 don't.
BE* Support is not UK based O2's is.
Service comparison can be found here http://www.beforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=8858Kind Regards

Thanks everyone. Decide to stay with Be as they will waive all charges.
Going through transfer process at the moment and hopefully be up and running soon.0
