i had this absolute d*ck working in the duty free at terminal 7 in jfk ,who didn't want me to buy my uk duty free allowance of cigarettes ..he kept arguing the toss saying that i could take back more than 200 per person.....he couldn't grasp the fact that i didn't care how good the deal was for buying more cigs was .....i wasn't interested.
i wonder how many people took his advice though

I know some people just tell me "the story" but the look of genuine shock on some peoples faces makes me believe that they are lied to especially around the new eu states ie poland etc.

i thought there was not a limit though if from a eu country, well within reason, as long as it was for ur own consumption

most of the assension states have limits for instance poland is only 200 cigs, anyway for the full list have a look here:

...because our thieving government have decided that they just aren't expensive enough in certain EU countries...free market...open borders and all that. :mad:

Nothing personal, it is just that I do find all C&E Officers so miseable looking, a smile costs nothing.

Oh and those at Passport Control, they must have been trained by the Gestapo... :rotfl:

Dont get me wrong I have my moments where it looks like someone has nicked my bag of sweets, however you have to understand that most of us have been on our feet for hours and having to put up with a barrage of questions, as if we are customer service for the airport, for example in recent history I ad a conversation with some foreign chap:

Him: Is there a beaureu de change here
Me: Yes sir there is one behind you.
Him: Is there one in covent garden.
Me: Yes sir
Him: Which one will give me the most for my money
Me: Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Also having to deal with people all day who you would rather bin doesnt help, for example if someone walks past me with say 1000 cigs from NY then I have to deal with them, ironically I would rather these people walk right past me as I have far more important things to do than worry about the lost revenue on a few cigs, Im sure the average person would'nt believe some of the stories we have to tell and if they did hear them they may unerstand why we can look miserable on occasion.
