Nightmare with Comet

  • I bought a fridgefreezer from Comet back in January. It was also priced at £299.99 with 10% off.

I went into store seen what i liked and called a sales person to assist me in taking my order, i went to the till to find out the the offer ended and they forgot to remove the sale sig from the fridge/freezer, no problems she sold it to me at the price i saw which they had to anyway.

She said delivery of new appliance and removale of old appliance was i think i paid £19.99 or £24.99 anyway i asked the lady why i have to pay for removal of old applicance and delivery of new appliance as i am very sure it is free online. I asked her if the deal was still going online and she said no as i told her i will go home and buy it.

So i got it for £299.99 with 10% off arranged deliery and removal at either of the charges above. Went home looked online and the offer for 10% off the appliance was still running including free delivery and free removal of old appliance i was angry as she told me they charge for delivery etc online aswell.

So i left it at that......

6:30AM .... I get a call we will be with you within the next 30 minutes, no problem i say.

I was by the door waiting for the delivery driver to turn up as where i live it hard to find so i stood outside to flag him down...

First he said ..... Is that your car i replied yes it is ..... he said in a disgusting manner can you remove it because it is in the f*****g way.

    I was gobsmacked.

So to be sarky i said no i cannot. I said it does not need removing as you have full access to the road and pavement outside the front door so it does not need removing. I was very confused on why he wanted it remvoing as he had all the room in the world to remove and bring in new appliance.

Him and his colleague goes to the van takes off my new appliance then removes the old whilst removing the old appliance he marked my washing machine with his keys as they was dangling from a chain on his trousers. I was furious but kept my mout shut.

As i live in a flat i heard him say to his friends for f*** sake this stairs takes the p*** to get the FF out. Again gob smacked.

He brought my new applianc in and literally bounced it up my stairs and dumped it by my kitchen door, i said i would like it where you removed the old one from please. He again the cheeky git said to me "f*** sake why not tell me that before i brought it up the stairs. I was very angry at this point and told him to leave it where it was and to get out. I just left hospital 1 week before and had majour surgery on my abdoman and nearly lost my life in hospital and was seriously ill so i could not move the appliance to where it should have gone, so i contacted my dad and he came over and moved it alone.

I waited til i think it way 9:30 and called Comet and they put me through to there head office or complaints and said they was deeply sorry and they will email the warehouse manager to notify him of what went on.

After what happened instore and with the delivery i decided to contact the store i bought my FF from and said the sales assistant lied to me which she did and bascically to cut a long story short the manager refunded my delivery fee and as i took out insurance and they charged me at the rate of when the appliance was not on offer i also found out that the cheaper it was the cheaper the insurance so they refunded me my insurance and gave it to me at the correct price.

I had a terrible experience with them but would use them again. But i must admit the manager was very happy to refund me delivery etc without quibbles.

Just thought i would share my experience with you.

    Mat
