Drilling into fake wall

In the bathroom I have a fake wall when you drill into there is just a big gap inside.
Now here i want to attach my Bath Screen to the Wall, and also some other accessories such as Mirror, bathroom shelf and possibly other types of Holders.
How do i do this bearing in mind that I have just put plastic wall cladding on and dont want to make a disaster of it.
Are there some special Drill hole plugs that are needed.

I dont think for the accessories there are ones with other sufficient method of attaching to the wall, stuff with suckers on wudnt work would it.

hope u can help

It sounds like you're after plasterboard fittings. check out these:

    http://www.screwfix.com/prods/11595/Fixings/Cavity-Fixings/Mungo-Metal-Easi-Driver-39mm-Pack-of-100

These come in two parts, the fixing and the screw. No need to drill. Just tap the fixing in and then screw until flush with the plasterboard. Use the included screw as normal.

The downside of using these is that you can only really use the screw that comes with the fixing.
  • so u just simply screw it through the cladding into the wall. how come it doesnt fall out with the inside of the wall being hollow, surely cant hold much?

so u hammer the fixing in, then screw ur accessory into the fixing.

dont wanna make a mess of the cladding :(

You choose fixings that are designed to grip the plasterboard.

See this article for more info.

Rawlplug actually make a plug that can be used for all wall types, inc stud walls.I think they're called Uno - click here..

I've used the ones that screw in, and don't really like that that much.

The ones I mentioned previously work great in plasterboard. I live in a modern house and it;s plasterboard everywhere. These are great and can carry a lot of weight, curtain poles and curtains, coat hooks, child gates heavy mirrors and pictures.

You sure that a bath screen will hold, I know they are heavy. Last thing you want is a bath screen to fall on you.

Majority of the weight will be held by the Side of the Bath wont it?
the fixings are just to secure it to the wall & then seal accordingly

When I got my screen it was heavy and they were large screws that came with it to fix to the wall.

I'm sure the screen you have is one that moves so its not always supported by the bath. There is also a rubber sealing strips at the bottom of the screen so its not fully supported on the bath.

You need someone with more experience who can advise whether the wall can cope with the amount of weight of the screen

When you swing the screen to one side or another, the weight will be on the fixings not the bath.

I've used the aforementioned plugs on my plasterboard wall with a very heavy (>15Kg) bath screen and there has been no movement.
