We're seriously considering getting a cat. We went to Hubble's Aunt J yesterday who happened to have a litter of persians almost ready for new homes. The little kits were just so adorable - ginger and white with the biggest blue eyes.... and when Aunt J explained how easy house cats are to keep I was sold. But when we got home I started to have a few doubts - we have an open plan kitchen/living room and I'm concerned that we won't be able to keep the cat out of the kitchen while we're out all day plu the only space we really have for a clothes airer is in the sutting room and I don't really want all my clothes (work clothes esp) full of cat hair. And my Dad freaked me out a bit when he asked if I was sure about having a cat and a baby at the same time.
Now I'm all confused. My heart really wants this kitten but my head has all kinds of doubts. . .

we have 6 cats and as long as you don't get involved in the cat litter side of things you'll be fine whilst pregnant (or wear a lovely pair of marigolds and practice uber-excellent hand hygiene cos pregnant ladies are at risk of ?toxoplasmosis or something equally off-sounding). I get round this by making it Wayne's job to clean out the cat litter trays!

Dad seemed to think there would be a problem with the cat smothering the baby when it arrive and scratching it??? I think he's being a bit of a drama queen but he's planted a seed of doubt...
Hubbles has already promised to deal with kitty litter and the kitten would be entirely on dry food by the time it comes to us so costs will be minimal.
I guess my biggest concern is the kitchen hygiene and the cat hair and possible kitty litter smells...26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073

Well done on passing the exam Sammy.
This is my first time of being on-line during the day as had internet police at work so unable to post during the day. Sadly got made redundant from my job on Friday. Been with the company nearly 12 years, so am a bit sad. On the plus side though, will be receiving a lump sum payment which will help me make some serious headway into my debts or at least clear them by F&F settlements. Trouble is, I don't get the money until normal payday at the end of the month, so until then am a bit skint! Just taking a week off before starting some temp work.
Need to sort out my house - first to start on the spare bedroom and discover what I actually have in there! Was hoping the weather would be a bit better so that I could also have a go at the garden but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
Have a good day everyone!Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
Mortgage free since 2014
