We tried to get on there a couple of years ago, it does look lovely!

It does doesnt it. We were at the beach down the lane from there on Thursday and Friday, and it's absolutely stunning. Made us want to go and stay.

I forgot you have a 12 stone dog..good luck with that then:rotfl: :rotfl: anyone got a small trailer you can borrow:D

We dont have a tow bar on the car

We'll just have to go basic if we do go, the kids can sit on the sleeping bags in the car, and we'll just pack the bare minimum.

Saying that, said 12 stone dog is at the vet tomorrow (she has a cyst on her back) and if she needs it removed, funds will have to go to that until the insurance pays us back

spud - you should get a trailer and get the dog to pull the trailer...like a husky!

  • Aww poor dog. I think it is a case of doing a dry run with everything and seeing how it all works out. I know after the first few times we had it down to what was essential and what was unnecessary! funnily enough since DD2 was diagnosed last year we haven't been in the tent, i really miss it as i find it very comfortable and liberating.
I just had a thought, in some of the camping shops they have some of those shake air mats, roll down flat and fill with air when you shake them..loads of sales on at the mo so you could pick them up pretty cheaply.

Hmmm it will wont it :rotfl:

Last time we went was pre-dog, and we took so much carp, I'm embarrassed to admit it. Chemical toilet, toast maker stand thing for the calor hob, table and chairs.....the list goes on :o

This time, we'll just have the roof box, and the odd bit of space in the car. It's the weight i'm worried about more than anything, and whether the flippin car is up to it. Maybe I should find out how much the tent weighs and how much the roof box can hold ;)

Thanks for that Bob. I'll ask DH if we can go to the camping shop when he comes in from work in the morning ;)

My "proper" camping days are over. We now just hire frame tents when we go on holiday to France/Holland, they have proper beds a fridge/freezer and an oven and grill in them. Only need to take food and bedding:D

Can cost a bit more than taking your own tent but not always as we found out last year. We hired a tent at a site in Holland and friends joined us there in their own tent and we paid £25 less for the week:confused:

Loads cheaper than hiring a static caravan on a site.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.
