Mondeo MKII cam belt change

According to a garage I talked to it's a higher cost job because the Mondeo cambelt can't be replaced without taking the engine out. Is that correct?0

I'm more inclined to go with a good independent but wanted to get a range of quotes.0 -
Lordy loo...........Ginger_Nuts wrote: »Thats one of the dearer belt changes i've had done, most are around the £100 mark;) If you're even in Northern Ireland i'll certainly pass on the address, but for most on here the cost of the ferry across may just put the cost up a bit:rolleyes:
All these silly low prices are giving OP and others the wrong impression of changing the cam belt. All vehicles vary - and yep you can get cheap, real cheap cam belt kits - but I would rather have a good make. And I would like to think that they will not fit it in ten minutes............
Engine out on a Mondeo???? No way.
Audi's are a pain, as you have to dismantle pretty much the whole front of the bl**dy car to get to the cam belt...
Get real folks and stop misleading the OP.

It cost the wife £150 to change the cambelt and tensioners on a 1.8 Mondeo at KP Motorsport in Driffield, East Yorks.0

Checked a couple of times and be damned if I meantioned an audi even once, op was about a mondeo, which I have, I stated the cambelt cheage interval, and also listed the price that I paid, I dont think I have to go to the extent of posting an invoice for it. Also as motmac has said, around the £150 range is about right for a 4 cyl mondeo, and no, the engine hanst to come out, that is unless it's a v6 where costs do go up considerably. In regards to the other cars i've had done they were around the £100 mark, I am not giveing a misleading price, thats what I expect to pay for a warranted job at a good independent. If you pay £300, you are being taken for a ride:rolleyes:0 -

I think the amount of work needed to change an Audi Cambelt is vastly exagerated! The Bumper has 2 Bolts at the front and a slider either side of each wing, You don't have to dismantle pretty much the whole front of the Car, After removing a few Bolts the front simply slides forward into the 'Service position'0 -
