Mondeo MKII cam belt change
Comments
-
Hi Everyone,
I need to get the Cam belt changed on a Mondeo MKII. Please can anyone tell me what this should cost and any tips for getting done as cheaply as possible.
Also, should I get the tensioner and pulleys done at the same time?
Thanks
SB
yes get the cam belt kit changed, this will include the belt and the pulleys.
use a gates kit (this is who makes genuine ford kits) or a genuine ford kit.
should cost around £200 for an independant garage to do it,a good bit more for a ford dealership i would guess....work permit granted!0 -
My neighbour recently has his cambelt and tensioners/pulleys changed on his Ford Mondeo at the local Ford main dealer. It cost £364. Hence as mentioned above a good local independent garage will probably be cheaper.

If it's a petrol, like mine, change intervals are 100,000 miles, I got mine done, full kit and with power steering and alternator belts included cost me £140 all in at a good independent garage I use0

I've been quoted £240 by two garages. One is an independent who I use and also a national chain.0

I got quotes of between £295 and £635 all from main dealers. It's worth shopping around.0

Thats about what i'd charge for that job...the biggest cost is the parts, doesnt take long to do.
Thats one of the dearer belt changes i've had done, most are around the £100 mark;) If you're even in Northern Ireland i'll certainly pass on the address, but for most on here the cost of the ferry across may just put the cost up a bit:rolleyes:0
