I can imagine some of the unasked for/unwelcome comments you have received from people over the years.

I used to get a few when my youngest 3 were small. I had 3 children under the age of 4 at one point. Comments such as 'don't you have central heating in your house then? etc, etc. Used to drive me potty. And what right do people have to make remarks like that straight to your face. It's damned right rude. Sorry rant over!!

Indeed.. When I started at college doing the dressmaking a few years ago it was about 3 months before anyone actually asked how many children I have.. then the snooty mare sitting next to me sniggered and said 'Have you figured out what is causing it?' ... I sidled right up close to her and in a 'stage whisper' (ie.. loud enough for EVERYONE to hear.. 'Oooooh YES... and I am REALLY REALLY good at it'.. gave her a rather naughty wink and went back to my work.. she never spoke to me again!! LOL

I also (one time when pregnant with DD5 and VERY stroppy) had a guy pull over alongside me as I was walking home from school.. wound down his window and shouted 'are they all yours?'.. I soun round like a crazy woman and yelled back.. 'No.. I just robbed a f***ing orphanage!!'...

I have a whole list of 'witty retorts'!! most are even more rude than the question that was asked.

I have to say the one that REALLY gets my goat is the 'do they all have the same dad?'... I HATE thay... why do they automatically assume you are a) up for it and b) unable to stay with the same person.. My reply to that one is.. 'same dad as what??'

I hope you didn't take me seriously - that was meant as a tongue in cheek remark. I would never comment on the size of anyone's family - each to their own! I have an Aunt who has nine children and, growing up, I was always very boastful of the number of cousins I had - especially as my mum is an only!

Link to Large families topic -

In fact there was a (quite aggressive in some parts) thread going a couple of weeks back about large families - you'll see, if you want to, that my comments were either factual or (not like me at all) off topic!

I am impossible to offend.. like I said that was the polite reply.. if I had been even slightly irritated by it you would have got the rude reply!! lol.. I don't even read comments on large families.. As far as I am concerned I have done my bit to ensure MY pension contributions are paid for when I am an old biddy... They reckon they'll need 3 people working to allow for every one person claiming state pension.. so I'm covered.. lol

MO4.. The worst part is finding something to do now they are bigger!!.. I have had to find myself.. and having to make decisions I would rather not make!

    Is it a large burn???

If not go to the chemist and ask for their suggestions, I used to work in a very busy chippy, and we all got burns one of my burns was so bad i had to get a jab in the hospital!!! They gave me flammazine (sp) it went on for 2 days then back to work, the heat of the pans used to irritate the burns and i found it helpful just to let the air at it!!

The chemist may suggest a meapore dressing!! Or follow sexymouse's advice!!

I've had the same dad comment as well. That one is just so so rude. Love your reply though. :T Wish I had thought of that one at the time.

On the same tack I had DS and then DD and people used to say to me - well, you won't be having any more then! This really surprised me (one of 3 girls) and my ex OH , one of 3 boys. Having started late our plan was to have two (all being well, that was) - whatever we got, and then stop. I was surprised that people thought that one of each is a complete family. Because this meant that neither of us had come from 'a perfect family'. My sister also had 3 under 4 at one point. She went on to have a 4th. Again - their business.

On the BBC website there is a woman who has given birth to sextuplets (sp?) today via a c section, and she already has 3 other children.

I wish her and all the children the best luck in the world.

Hubby gone to dismantle and remove a large wardrobe and replace it with the one that matches the little wardrobe already in my room.. so we may have a little extra floor space up there later..
