How can I work out how much my fire costs to run?

I'm buying my first property and looking at buying an electric woodburner as I can't have a gas or woodburning one installed there. It's got an output of 2kw and says power consumption effect only 130w. What exactly does that mean in English and how much is it going to cost me??

Thanks:beer:

  • I would say it's more likely to be 2KW rather than 130W. 130W is like a light bulb.
2KW is 2 units per hour. On your bill it will have a price per KWH.
My price per KWH is around 15p so it would cost me 30p per hour to run.
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:

The power consumtion effect is for when you just have the lights on, so it looks like a fire but is not producing any heat.
