Hi
I've used my George Foreman lots of times but the filling does leak and because the lid is quite heavy it flattens the sandwich so I bought a cheap sandwich toaster! But yes I just used to butter the outside of the bread..0 -
I think it was about the only thing I ever used my george foreman for-I used to do camembert sandwiches in it, and used olive oil on the outside. It was LOVELY.
It does squish it a lot though! and make a bit of a mess0 -
I always use my GF for toasties - I never butter the bread.
I also tend to put the front feet up on the chopping board to level the plates - stops the filling running downhill.0 -
I never butter the outside and on the George foreman thread, people were saying that doing so makes them stick. Tbh we barely use our george foreman for anything other than toasties and panninis as we dont like the crispy sealed effect on meat.Eat food, not edible food-like items. Mostly plants.0

Will definitely give the GF grill a go then - I really should be using it more so I will go and hunt out the George Foreman thread as well.
Thanks everyone x0 -
what about those 'toastie' bags that you put in the toaster to make toasted sandwiches
picked mine up in the pound shop and they're not bad0 -
I use the toaster bags too, they are fab and can be reused time and again.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Hi Beebop,
Toasted sandwiches made in the GF are lovely. I always butter the outside of the bread and pile the filling up in the middle to stop it leaking out of the sides when it melts (tip I learned from tru).
There's an earlier thread with more tips on using the GF as a sandwich maker so I've added this thread to it to keep the ideas together.

I use the GF to make my panini's which I get from Asda. They taste great. Never thought to try it for a normal toasted sandwich. Will give it a go tomorrow.0
