We have just bought a George Foreman.
I used it to cook lemon and tarragon chicken last night and everyone enjoyed the meal - even the fussy ones. I was really looking forward to my toasted cheese sandwich for lunch today (even let my husband have all the leftover chicken) but most of the cheese ran out
…what did I do wrong?

Instead of putting the cheese on the bread evenly, use the same amount but pile it in the middleBulletproof0

yea, we like ham slice and then put some cheese in but not near the edge, plus I would let the machine heat up a little bit before you put the sarnie in0

Thanks for the tip...will have another go tomorrow.
Should we butter the bread on the outside?0 -
I don't butter the bread, inside or outBulletproof0

cheese and sweetcorn are gorgeous! keep it in the middle of the bread and butter outside so it doesnt stick its yummy! also tried egg!! you think it wont work but it does a yummy egg cooked to perfection and when the yolk bursts umm yummy!! also i have fried my eggs in my breville sandwich maker they come out gorgeous crack it in the triangle and you get a triangle egg!!!!!0

Cheese and sweetcorn sounds good.
Do you mean just an egg or an egg sandwich?0 -
both ive done egg in the bread or fried it on sandwich maker seperately this sounds messy but it is not the egg soon cooks and peals off quite easy as it is non stick(always use non metal utensils though so you dont spoil the non stick) but to make sure you could wipe over with kitchen roll and a little little oil if required. the egg comes off looking like a poached egg really the yolk is hidden but it fries like a kind of griddle if you like!! hope this helps have a go practice may make perfect but it worked first time when i did it so who know get frying them eggs on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the cheese and sweetcorn is a must my little girls love it! :j :j0 -
I always use thick or extra thick bread (depending on the brand) it squeezes everything together better & helps to keep melted cheese in0
-
just thought of another tip while making myself a toastie for lunch ...
I always use mature or extra mature cheese, that way you don't need so much of it to get the flavour so there's less of it to melt & run out all over the place0 -
Cheese and Marmite toasted sandwiches in the GF - YUM YUM YUM!!!! And DEF butter the outside of the bread.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0
