One of the best phones you can have, they all come with pros and cons, battery life not very good and with a few tweaks you can manage that, get softwares from spb and load an 8 gb micro sd card and away you go....good luck and if you need any further help then look in the obvious place (most of us don't look at)....and that my felowmen is............eureka! you guessed it right....The Manual!!! Enjoy!!0 -
Plus, dont know if Im allowed to put other forum links here..but the online seller expansys has a forum in which every question has been asked before and anyone can ask or answer, doesnt matter if you get it there or not.
As for the device - depends if you are used to that style. If you are swapping off a normal bog standard phone its gonna take you a while to get used to it as its a windows smartphone, not a pick up and make a call thats it phone.
The handset itsself is brill. Sky sports plays very well on it...:D0 -
I have one and I do like it.
Short note tho' - The next version is now out. It is the HTC Touch Pro aka the HTC Raphael aka the T-Mobile MDA Vario IV. It is allegedly better than the Stellar (obviously), but not in any remarkable way once the developers learn from the new device and back-port the updates to the older devices.
No idea when it is coming to O2 (they usually lag a little, so I guess it would be November), but you may want to wait.
And the other two good places to find information is forum.xda-developers.com (and their wiki) and https://www.modaco.com.*I reserve the right to have an opinion, the right to change this opinion and the right to be wrong.*Hope that helps. T-Mobile MDA Vario IV

No, but the vario compact IV is touch screen only I believe. The vario IV has a slide out key pad just like the vario 3.
I got a vario 3 today, and after 5 years of symbian phones, (n95, n70, 6600), I think I am going to struggle.
Best advice I would give is, if you want a phone that does other stuff as well, go for either N95.
If you want a mini computer that is also, secondly a phone, then get the vario.
Got a feeling mine will be on ebay before long. Ill give it a week or so though to see if I can iron the issues out.0 -

I have to agree that WM phones are more of a mini computer than just a phone. While this does tend to make them a little complicated at first, the thing to realise is that they are very customisable and the hardest part then is finding out how to do something.
If you're having issues, you can probably ask on here and get a sensible reply (there seem to be a few WM users on here) or you can try XDA-Developer forums (even though yours is an MDA, it's still covered on those forums, and you will want the one's labelled "Kaiser" in particular).*I reserve the right to have an opinion, the right to change this opinion and the right to be wrong.*Hope that helps. Depends on the device, but if you put it into speaker phone mode you can get them to record both sides of the conversation. If you don't use speaker phone, you can still record your side of the conversation (which I shall assume is better legally).
I also own an Orange SPV C600 (HTC Faraday/Tornado) which records calls flawlessly.*I reserve the right to have an opinion, the right to change this opinion and the right to be wrong.*Hope that helps. If you find this post useful, please feel free to hit the V V V V V V 'Thanks' button below0
