Anyone got the Dreams/Kaymed Kildaire bed?

http://www.dreams.co.uk/en-gb/ProductDetails/?cid=MEMORYFOAM-DIVAN&pid=371-00016&language=en-GB

Been faffing about looking at beds for months now.

Tim (Deegan) kept saying Tempur were all name & no trousers.

I was pretty sure about getting a Tempur one, but we did like a Dreams (Kaymed) Chaucer one, pocket sprung with memory foam top.

I really wanted a full memory foam, so I was looking again at the Dreams website (after trying loads in our local dreams that day) & I saw a couple of memory foams on the web not in the shop.

So I went to the local store again & they told me they didn't carry all the beds & that one would be on display at another store about 10 miles. So I went to see it, HEAVEN, I'm pretty sure its what I've been searching for.

Has anyone got this bed?

Tim Deegan do you have any thoughts on this one?

I like it because it memory foam, but a softish foam & it has a lovely cover on top. Hubby likes the ridged side all round the top, he says it feels more like a mattress thats hes used to & doesn't have that fall away at the sides feeling.

Anyone got any ideas why I can't find it on the kaymed website?
I'm pretty sure its made for Dreams by Kaymed (I think the salesman confirmed it was a Kaymed).

It doesn't say much at all about it on the web site. Did you say it was reflex foam and memory foam, or pocket sprung with memory foam?

They don't do full memory foam. It would be memory foam on top of reflex foam.

I really can't help you much on this one due to the complete lack of information on the web site.

I don't know if you realise, but most of the manufacturers of high quality memory foam mattresses in the UK actually use either Kaymed or Vitafoam to supply their memory foam, and there is nothing to choose between them. This is why I keep saying that you don't have to pay so much to get a top quality mattress, because they actually use the same components.

Memory foam & whatever else, no springs though

    Must be this then.

    Yes its not very informative.

I knew I had read posts where you said Kaymed was really good.
Its unusual as a foam only mattress that it has a ridge or edge like a sprung mattress & hubby really likes this.
One of the things he didn't like about the foam ones, was the lack of a proper edge.
This one is the only memory foam (no springs) one I have seen like this.

They do this by using walls of high density reflex foam around the edge of the mattress to create a firmer edge. But do you think this is worth paying double the price for?

Just out of interest, what has put you off springs?

I just got a thing about a full foam bed:confused:

    Mind you, foam mattresses won't squeek:o :o:o:o:D

My husband really likes the edge. This is now a must have.

I'm glad you put me off the Tempur Celebrity, this one is far supeior (sp?), even I can tell that, as a novice. Its £1,500 for the SK with 4 drawers, the Tempur would have been 1K more & I really do believe this is FAR FAR better.

    Tim

Can I say thankyou for making me think on about the Tempur.

Because I do feel that Kaymed one is 1k less & far far better.

So thank you for saving me money & making me look harder for a better product.

I could have saved you even more if I had managed to talk you out of shopping in high street chains.

By the way, pocket springs don't squeak.

Why is it so incredibly expensive?

When I was looking in Debenhams (which isn't cheap), they didn't have a single bed over £1k. £849 for a single!!!!

Kaymed do tend to charge about three times the usual price for an equivalent bed that actually uses the same components (including Kaymeds own memory foam). The only advantage that I can see is that when Kaymed put their memory foam in their own mattresses they put a 12 year guarantee on the memory foam (this probably doesn't apply to the one made for Dreams). However when they seel the same memory foam to other bed manufacturers to put in their mattresses, they only put a two year guarantee on it.

Debenhams only sell two brands of divan bed, and one of those I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. Also they only have a very small choice. Try searching for a 2 drawer king size divan bed (any make)........they don't have any.

Perhaps online that's true, but in store they had about 30 different beds, all of which included 2-drawer king size divans, and definitely more than 2 brands.

I wouldn't know, as I have never looked for beds in Debenhams. You would think they would have a bigger range on line wouldn't you?
