Thanks, yes that's exactly right! He's expecting to go to uni so why they don't have an interest in him studying is beyond me

Had a thought: there is an article on the main site which might be helpful. Probably not for increasing his income on a regular basis, although possibly for covering music lessons, and certainly for 'emergencies'. I think it links to a discussion as well.

Can you get access to the People in Need software? That might also help you, not just for this client ...

Sorry, I've never heard of it and when I Googled it I found something about Cornwall in 2005.

I think ELF was as mentioned in post 8, he had that last year because he was over 18 and still got EMA - it was extended?! not sure.

Hopefully the college will help - especially the Access to Learning Fund sounds promising, and have a few sites to check for grants as well :)

Right, was that what the EMA extension was called? I hadn't come across it before.

(I do hope your client is doing most of this research himself.)

So far, he's going to get in touch with college to ask about the access fund, he has a whole list of grant giving charities to contact. But, he was told he will probably have to give up his A-levels because he won't be entitled to income support for much longer and will have to be available for work
