Wilkinsons are brilliant for stocking fillers, just been in there today and got quite a few bits, most are 99p or £1.99, got a nice little girls purse, lavender smelling teddy, and Strawberry teddy, some Aqua spa bath smellies in a nice holder £1.99. Wanted some boys stocking fillers but could not find much for boys, loads for girls.
  • I got some wind up bath toys (a duck & afrog) from tescos this morning £1 each - I think my boys will fight over them! Especially good as they were pretty much free as the self scanning till let me have over 50% off my shop in coupons.

There is another stocking filler thread here:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=91757

As I said on that one:
I have just been in cheap bookshop "The Works", which still appears to be having the same closing down sale (hmmmm...) that's been going on for a good five or six years now.

The lying about closing aside, they have LOADS of great bits and pieces for kids stocking fillers - craft kits, books, pens, pencils, paints, plasticine etc that will keep them busy well into the new year!

For anyone arty (older kids, partners, friends), they have tons of art supplies (pastels, paints, brushes, watercolours, oils, acrylics, pallettes, etc), easels and really cheap blank canvases. I've bought loads today!

    http://www.theworks.gb.com

Free delivery on orders over £25, but don't know what the service is like.
It's worth popping into your closest branch to pick things up!

Visited Claire's today, as recommended in another thread, and got loads of surprise bags (pink and near the till) at 2 for £2.00, 6 items in each bag:toe rings, scarves, necklaces, nail polish, etc. Great value - will wrap separately to fill up stockings. Also got scoobies at 3 bags for a £1.00, these were £2.00 each! And finally, last month's snow globe (apparently there is a different one each month - fancy not knowing that!) at 2 for a £1.00. Bargain day!

Went into Adams and found various bits, my favourite was the glasses that act as a straw at £2.00 - always wanted some as a child, hope that my son enjoys them as it seems too sad to wrap them up for myself!

Have a look at the Baker Ross Website - best known for childrens arts and craft supplies and educational toys.

    http://www.bakerross.co.uk/index.asp?try=Yes

There is currently a 5% discount for on-line purchases until 20th December and a free toy penguin if you spend £50.

Look in the 'Special Offers' section (bottom of list on left) and look at all of the subsections as they seem have got some things a bit muddled up.

The best buys that I spotted are:

    In the 'educational' sub-section
6 tubs of little toys all for £4.99 (half price). In most shops these are around £2/tub usually
    A set of 6 contains:-
    Tub of Wild Animals
    Tub of Insects
    Tub of Farm Animals
    Tub of Ocean Animals
    Tub of Reptiles
    Tub of Dinosaurs
    http://www.bakerross.co.uk/showitem2.asp?fldImgID=3056

A wooden farm set with lots of pieces in a nice wooden box, for £4.99 (half price again
    http://www.bakerross.co.uk/showitem2.asp?fldImgID=3938

A wooden food cutting set at £3.49 (Half price)
    http://www.bakerross.co.uk/showitem2.asp?fldImgID=3597
I ordered 2 of these the other day and they are much nicer than I expected even - good quality.

Alphabet sponge letters (for painting) - also half price at 99p
    http://www.bakerross.co.uk/showitem2.asp?fldImgID=3481

In the Xmas - special offers section
pack of 2 5" santa teds for £1.30 - half price
    http://www.bakerross.co.uk/showitem2.asp?fldImgID=4935

Is is also worth a good look in the regular part of this site for some other really good offers such as the bargain toy packs

You could get complete stocking fillers for more than one child with this pack at £8.99 for 12 items
    http://www.bakerross.co.uk/showitem2.asp?fldImgID=4675

or £12.99 for 10 items in this luxury pack
    http://www.bakerross.co.uk/showitem2.asp?fldImgID=4676

Some of the individual items that they show in the picture for this pack are worth about £5 in the shops, but the downside is that it is a luck dip selection

The delivery charge is quite reasonable at £3.25 - but even better to join forces with a friend or two and split the cost (and perhaps share the contents of some of the toy packs)

Check with your school or nursery, if you have children, as you used to be able to enter a code that was registered to them, and then the school would get commission - this was for Baker Ross and Yellow Moon.
