They are advertising that the most expensive debt is paid off first, which is unusual for a credit card!0

This is correct. Nationwide are different to most credit cards in that the allocation of payments actually works in the customers favour rather than the card provider.
Makes a refreshing change I think :j0 -
They won't extend the offers to existing customers, hence the term introductory offers!

I read through the t&c though and couldn't see anywhere that explicitly banned existing customers. Depends whether you view it that it is an introductory offer for new customers or for that particular product ...and I do not currently have a gold card. Mind you I didn't exactly get around to making the call today

You can ask them to change your card to the Gold type if your credit limit is £3K upwards, and if your account is handled well.
The only real differences that I can tell are the 2% lower APR, and they will give you an emergency card replacement abroad with Gold but not Classic. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I can guarantee they do not extend the offer to existing customers as a friend of mine tried last week the same thing!

Did he say he was going to go elsewhere then and ask to cancel his account?0 -

He asked if he closed his account would it made a difference & they were firm in respect that its an introductory term for new customers. Not for existing ones. He kept the card just as its handy for when he's abroad.0
