Awwww, I used to have two cats called Scratch and Dent (hubby worked in a shop that sold refurbished white goods!!) I love cats!!!
  • I've got two cats, one of which is normal and the other one is slightly not normal. He is our oldest cats kitten but she accidently suffocated him at birth, hubby is a medic so resusitated him. He's so lovely though. My oldest cat is 15 and Branston (as in got in a pickle) is 14.

We also bought a puppy (or should that be poopy?), a couple of months ago for our son. Idea was that it would get son out and about taking said puppy for walks through his upcoming teenage years, son is diabetic so thought it would be a great way of exercising him.

Poops is a chocolate labrador and is an absolute fruit loop. So far he's eaten the cable for the laptop, the cable for SKY TV, two telephone wires and half my nice, and not very old, cushioned flooring in the kitchen.

That is sooo weird!! Our two cats were very similar. They were sisters, the bigger one Scratch was fine but very shy and the teeny one Dent nearly died at birth and she was always tiny with a wobbly walk and very smelly breath but sooooo cuddly & affectionate! On the morning of our wedding Dent was sitting on the window sill (we were 3 floors up) and the window was wide open. Scratch jumped up and Dent fell out! Luckily she was very dazed but OK. Hubby ran to the vets with her and got her checked out. No broken bones, just sorry for herself! I'd spent the night at my mum's and didn't know anything about it until after the reception when the best man let it slip!

We were getting a lab puppy next month, I wanted a Weimeraner (?) but hubby and the kids want a lab. But cos my mum died I've got some money coming and want to buy a caravan at Flamingo Land and think the travelling (6-7 hours) won't be too good for a puppy/dog. So we're having second thoughts.

    ps love your puppy's name!!
  • The pup is actually called Bailey but he makes some very bad smells so gets called poopy more often. We took him to Brimingham last week for MIL's birthday, 2 hour drive went better than we expected, the drive not her birthday!
  • I wanted a Cavalier King Charles, you know something that could sit on my lap, OH and DS wanted something a bit more manly, so we settled on a chocolate lab. I thoroughly recommend getting one, he's bonkers, which apparently is a trait of the breed, but he's so funny!

I've changed my mind so often about getting a dog and which kind. I used to want a Beagle as I'd heard they were very affectionate and obedient. Then I saw a Weimeraner (must learn how to spell it). It sat in a hairdressers' window every day and I thought it was gorgeous, but I've heard they can be very loopy.

So we went to Dog Trust and got a rescue dog. That was a disaster unfortunately. He was huge a german shepherd/collie cross, 4 years old, but apparently great with kids. Turned out the previous owner lied a great deal. He hated other dogs, leads, going to the toilet outside - liked using the carpet!, being told what to do and we just couldn't handle him. Needless to say after a year of trying very, very hard to train him etc he started growling and snapping at the kids and that was the last straw, he had to go back. Still miss him though.
  • That's such a shame. Bailey is getting better at the potty training, he does go outside unless he's excited and I think he just can't help himself but he's still only a baby (5 months).

We settled on a lab as I thought they make great guide dogs, must be easy to train, wrong!!!! The vet now tells us that this is not so, they are very intelligent, which makes them great guide dogs but they are not so easy to train, especially chocolate labs (wouldn't you just know it). She said the chocolate ones are more free-willed, I think she meant bonkers.

My mum was bit quite badly by a Weimaraner a few months back, she's now very scared of dogs!
  • My Oh wanted a Beagle but apparently they excel at escaping
  • right better go and tip the rest of the family out of their pits. I'll pop back in later
