Should slow cooker boil like his?

Options
 Hi guys! I'm using my latest os purchase today for the first time:j . Wasn't sure what to expect? Making a ratatouille and it smells delightful. Its only had one and a half hours of its 6-8 hours cooking time but its bubbling away quite ferociuosly, should it be doing this? I was expecting more of a simmer, do you think I should turn it down to low. I followed a recipe that came with it and it said either low for 10 hours, or pre cook the ingredients and put on low for 6-8 hours? I've not stirred it yet as someone on here told me not to until at least half the time had elapsed, it looks like it could do with a good stir though:p , i'm dying to get in there!

Any advice most welcome!!:D

Mine does this and I just leave it alone and its perfectly done by teatime. So I'd say cool your heels and wait!!I remember someone once telling me that every time you open the lid of a slow cooker it adds an hour to the cooking time:eek: So stop peeking!!:D

Mine just simmers. I do everything on low with a one hour high start.

Are you using AUTO or HIGH setting ?

Hiya, im using high as per the instructions, it said to use low if you weren't pre cooking or if you were pre cooking ie, just in the frying pan to use high and to reduce the cooking time to 6/8 hours!

    Thanks for your reply:T

I suppose they are all different. Mine only requires low for 6-8 hours without any pre-cook. You should post your model up as somebody with the same one may come online.

Thanks for that its a cookworks silver 3.5L that I got from Argos for #13.00 last week, I was also wondering beacuse the lid was rattling as it was bubbling away and it was spitting liquid from the rim, I was just concerened as it was wetting the switch, I was wiping it away as im here, but if I was out thought this was a bit dangerous, thanks again all!

I think you should turn it to low but don't blame me.

You can always turn it back to high if somebody comes on and says so.

It forms the water round the lid to make a seal. My lid chatters away like this. It does seem nosiy as the lid settles its self after being opened.

You shouldn't keep looking no matter how hard the temptation.
