I have a great deal of sympathy with you oz_valdo. Your primary concern is to work out just what it was in the perming lotion you reacted to and make sure you avoid it at all costs in the future. Persist with Head Office and make sure they disclose what was used in your case and supply a list of ingredients, any reputable firm will want to use the learning from this incident to prevent this from happening to another client - although this is largely unpredictable. If you can get them to cough up for sensitivity (patch) testing, all the better.
Let your hair grow out and forget the extensions, yes it is tough initially but you will see a big difference within a couple of months with an extra inch of growth. On the plus side, it is very easy to maintain on a daily basis, new hair is in much better condition than old. I speak from personal experience of a scissor-happy hairdresser who once gave me what looked like a 2!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Women will waste their money on unnecessary haircuts etc.....
Makes me well pleased I'm male and can just get a £20 set of clippers from Argos and do it myself every so often.
Total spend on my hair this year = £0
I don't feel sorry in the slightest for those that want to waste money in a salon and let someone else touch their hair.
And thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for that really helpful comment. You are obviously a new man and very in touch with your sensitive side - NOT:rolleyes: ."there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
I think it is wrong you have named the salon, you've already said it was a lovely colour - you was upset by the cut, which you did not get a stylist to do, nor did you pay for a cut. A lesson well learnt i expect but there is another 11 people who probably work in that salon who have just been tainted by 1 colourist who upset you.
What I took from what the OP said, was they were going to leave cuts/colours to Toni & Guy from now on. If I've got it right, they had their hair done somewhere else.:j30/7/10:j

Hi again all,
Well have bought myself a couple of nice sparkley bandana type headbands, will see how i go! Had to laugh at a couple of the comments (dont use a skybox and may end up getting set of clippers!). Also, good tip from The Lone Ranger!
Actually, i know it all seems a bit over dramatic. But (and if you want a really good laugh) i still get stress triggered acne, and im really spotty as a result too!! I am a serious paper bag case at the moment!
Things could be a lot worse, but since having a good old moan about it to friends, its amazing how many people say they've been dissatisfied with the salon, but have never complained.
Like i said, it's not a case that im suffering public humiliation, as my hair is passable. Im just royally p*ssed off that after growing it for what seemed like ages, im back to my boy style square one.
Im going to see what the area manager has to say (if) she calls me back tomorrow.
Just wanted to thank everyone for their positive (and humorous) posts.

I am a woman.....and I clipper my hair every month. I haven't paid for a hairdresser in two years. I also colour it myself.
I am lucky because I have the sort of face which can carry off a super short hair cut.
People always tell me my hair looks stylish etc and that it must be annoying to have it cut so often. I have no worrys about telling them the truth. I am actually pretty proud of doing it myself!
There is nothing as liberating as starting fresh with your hair. I have a different colour every month and it grows out - so no hair damage. The very first time I cut my hair really short I felt incredibly beautiful (I know that sounds kind of vain...but) it was like "oh, there's my face - where's that been hiding?" People do look at you and it is a good thing.
I wear lots of makeup and make a real effort to look feminine but I don't think I look butch anyway!
Perhaps this could be a blessing in disguise. Discover a new you - one who doesn't have to worry about her hair and be someone who is what she is not hiding behind a hairstyle.0
