This was on tiscali's website, i thought it was a pretty good deal, however, i've looked at some reviews and apparantly tiscali broadband is not very reliable, are there any tiscali users in the forum that could tell me about their good/bad experiences with tiscali?thanks.

    Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!

There are plenty more deals out there to be had, Tiscali should be a last resort.

Everything is fine while it's working but once anything goes wrong you're on your own. Their customer service is abysmal. They had my OH in tears with frustration with a billing !!!!-up they refused to achknowledge. Their overseas call centres cannot deal with anything that isn't on their script, so in most cases they're no use whatsoever.

If you can get 02 on LLU in your area they have had good feedback and if you have an o2 contract you can save money.

Have a look here to see who is available in your area: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php

Also go to this website to read the reviews and compair isp's.

I'm going to buck the trend and say that I have had tiscali for the entire time that I have had broadband - and I have had no problems at all. I haven't got the phone packages though - just the straight broadband.

There are a couple of niggles with the connection going down a few times about the same time every night, and once or twice during the day - but I suspect that most connections do that anyway.

When I foolishly clicked on a link within a spoof email and got my account all messed up I found the chap at the helpline really nice and very helpful - and he had me sorted in no time.

Please don't burn me if you don't agree - I can only post as I have experienced.:D

We had Tiscali up until the end of October last year. Had no problems with it. Can only remember having connection problems perhaps once of twice in the whole 3 years we were with them. Although when you do phone up c/s you get a recorded message telling you to visit their website for more info, but how can you if your net connection is down!

I was on the £17.99 package for a while, but then realised that the £14.99 package was exactly the same, so I "downgraded" it. Can't understand that tbh.

Only switched because we have Sky and have got their £5 a month package, which I'm more than happy with.

The only problem I had with Tiscali was when we switched to Sky and I got my MAC code no problem, passed it on to Sky and my Tiscali service was disconnected. I didn't realise that I had to "cancel" my account because Tiscali tried to carry on billing me when I wasn't receiving any service, luckily I had cancelled the DD. It was all sorted eventually though.

  • I have had tiscali since 2003 and they were great, until I tried to upgrade to the deal offered to you. Oh boy, did they !!!! it up, and I was cut completely off for 6 weeks. They told me I was paying both them and BT for my line rental and to cancel my BT line. I didn't know the score, and was promptly disconnected. When I got my line back 3 days later, they told me to wait 20 days for my internet connection, then after 30 days, they told me that my line was pegged and to ring BT to get it unlocked. Did so, and BT got so mad they reported tiscali for a breach of OfCom regulations, because it is tiscali's job, not the customers. Then they refused to answer my complaint letters and had to refer it to the Ombudsman. After a phone call to their serious complaints dept in London, I finally got over £50 compensation, after I spent over £40 in phone calls and £70 to BT for early termination of my new contract. Need I say more? They are good when working OK, but if you have a complaint, you are on your own, and their Indian call centres only talk from a written script and cannot do much to actually help you.

My advice? Leave well alone and go elsewhere. Besides, tiscali is up for sale and the fact that nobody, not even Vodaphone (rumoured to be bidding) has not done anything after 6 months says volumes.

Please don't use tiscalli (my experience is with Pipex but they are the same) they are easily the worst company I have ever dealt with. While things work they are fine but if you ever have a problem with the service or billing you'll enter a whole world of corporate pain. I'm 3 months into trying to get them to refund money they took from my account after I left. The customer service is dreadful and not based in the UK.

    Please avoid.
