Mark, unfortunately we all know pretty much what each other earn because we know what 'scale' each job is... mine's a bit of a joke though as have the same responsibility as some people on higher scales.. but ho hum! :rolleyes:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I hate snide people like that. I had a similar situation with a friend recently telling me she'll be earning around £16k soon. Well firstly, I already knew that because I got offered a job three scales up before.
So I said well I was fine on £4.5k and actually I have no income now and can manage perfectly fine until December. We both live with our parents, she doesn't even pay rent (I do!) and she has no savings.

Of course she meant it, I used to work with a woman who came across as really sweet but she was the most manipulative, underhanded moo ever!
She could pay these 'little compliments' at the drop of a hat and people would say thanks but then when you actually thought about her exact words it was a total put down!
She used to love the "Hey honey, are you alright? You look simply awful!"
I bet her fanjita was just as big as her gob!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -

Strangely enough we didn't think of that - I did suggest that we played 'musical desks' on a Monday morning, wherever you are when the music stops you have to do that job for the week
Thanks guys, you've made me smile (inbetween going "f**k it, I'm going to get another job!")Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

redsquirrel - I think that was a bit out of order for that person to say. Maybe they meant it jokingly, but people should think before they speak. How do they know how much you get paid anyway? We never discuss wages in our office as everyone is on completely different levels (you can kinda guess how much people earn though).
Everyone knows what scale my job is and what salary range that is - we're fairly open about things so they also know that I'm at the top of that scale so they know exactly what I earn!
Lenny - there's a couple of us in the office who are Martin fansand we're working on her on the money makeover front, she is slowly coming round to our way of thinking but there's a long way to go. Really frustrates me as she could do so much on what she earns but she wastes so much.
Linda - that woman sounds a nightmare - this one, she's a funny one, can turn on people over the slightest thing. Am getting a general feeling round here lately though that people see me as the office junior because I'm on a lower scale (and younger than most of them)...Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
