only if your a BIG downloader (we're talking 100's of albums here) of music will you get any hassle......i get my music from else where for free so don't download it
yes alot safer downloading from a known download site such as itunes etc
torrents can be dodgy unless you know where your getting it from (normally comments are left about that track/album so you know if its safe or not)
just depends if you want free or happy to pay...If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
Get an FM Transmitter for the car. You will also be able to use this in the house and play your iPod through your stereo.
Check out https://www.jamendo.com for free and legal downloads.

Is it much safer downloading from itunes etc in terms of protecting my laptop as well? My husband used to sort all the techie stuff for me - think there's gonna be lots of posts from me
I just buy the cd and rip it to mp3, I don't trust any company that sells DRM copyrighted music (including iTune), if any of these companies decide to shut up shop then thats the end of your music collection (yahoo is a recent example), yes you can make a DRM free copy but a) it's alot more hassle than burning a CD b) the quality will be lower than the song you bought.
As to illegal downloading it's not a case of will I get caught it's just when will you get caught - all they need is your ip address / time and they can track you down, the top 5 ISP have bought into sending out warning letters, I'd expect some people to be made examples of0 -

And let's not forget of course, that recording artists deserve to be paid for their work.0 -
I use an iTrip which just plugs onto your iPod and plays the tunes at a radio frequency picked up by your car/home/work stereo. It's powered by the iPod battery too so no extra wires required...
As for downloads, as Marty says, artists deserve the money they get from downloads and it's only about £6/7 per album, hardly worth risking dodgy (illegal) downloads?!?:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. I use Itrip currently in my car and quality is ok, but am upgrading my head unit at the weekend, and will have lead fitted to the back of the unit.
Keep an eye out at your local Car boot for tunes, at mine there is a guy who sells a disc with the top 100 albums on for £50 -
Using the Torrent system to obtain files illegally is pure stupidity since anyone who logs onto the Torrent can see the IP addresses in the swarm, therefore leaving you very exposed to those with interest, ie the BPI.0

BUT, it's £150 fitted, so not a 'cheap' alternative but better sound quality and uses the normal function controls so no fiddling with the iPod whilst driving:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. if it was between a cassette adaptor and fm transmitter get a cassette adaptor like the one here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/TGC-Player-Tape-Cassette-Adapter/dp/B000LULI8M
With fm transmitters they transmit a radio signal and its never as good quality as a wired solution, plus depending where you are you can get a lot of interference.
For 3 quid, the amazon link is a bit of a no brainer.2014 running challenge 471.95 km / 1000 km.0
