My DD is 8 days old, she is getting through more I think. When my washing machine stops I can count what I used yesterday.
My son was 8lb 110z, he out grew size 1 in under a week.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -
I must admit I would be wary of buying too many nappies in advance at all - I got a bunch in, mostly huggies I think, but after using some of each, my son turned out to be a pampers boy and I gave the huggies away in the end... (I don't know if it was his chunky legs but huggies were too tight on the leg and leaked at the top back... I love the term about 'poonamis' that brings back memories lol)
If you think the shop would be obliging, buy the nappies, tape the receipt to them, and keep them in a bag- and then you might be able to take them back to change them. You could even ask the policy when you buy them.0 -

I used nine between about 10am yesterday and 8am today. DD is breastfed. I think yesterday was a good day as other days each time I have changed her nappy and she has pooped again so I've had to change her again.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -
We bought loads before our daughter's arrival. Think we had nearly 30 packs of either Pampers or Huggies.
When she eventually grew out of the sizes, we took each full pack to Boots without a receipt and asked to exchange for a bigger size. They were excellent, didn't even ask if we originally bought from Boots (which we didn't as some came from Tesco).
So don't worry about having too many in smaller sizes, as Boots will exchange.
We started collected in Aug 07, daughter was born Jan 08. We did the same with wipes and still haven't had to buy any since the birth.Financial Aims for 2012:

Thanks so much everyone for the replies! It hadn't even occurred to me that we might me able to exchange them later on. I think I'll get some size 2s and hold on to the receipts, I am such a sucker for coupons.:www: :: MFi3 ::

i was told my baby would be 8lb plus and he was only 6lb10oz, and he went down to 6lb1, so i wouldnt necessarily believe them when they "guess" the weight. i breast feed and my little man was going through about 10nappies a day in early days, i use pampers new born cos they abosorb soft poo and bf babies tend to have very soft poos and it tends to be just about every nappy. I would say he goes through about 7 or 8 a day now.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

I swopped lots of packets, went a bit mad buying loads of packets in the 9 months leading up to her birth. :rotfl: :rotfl: Tesco's were fine.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -
As its your first, it going to be a guess as to the size of the baby. Mine are born so damn big that newborn nappies are too small and therefore a waste. I would stick to just a pack or two (standard size) of newborns and more size 2's. If your baby is small or average size then OH can be sent to Tesco to buy the odd more packs of small sizes if need be. They grow so fast!!0
