    Hi

Sorry for all the problems you have had!

Not sure whether you have tried the Gumtree site for private landlords who do not ask for application fees etc.

Just type in Gumtree and the area you want to move to.

    Hope this helps
  • All Nancy.

Thanks for the advice. I have noticed the same ups and down in supply requirements. I think the long term viabliity of supply work is diminishing though due to "cover supervisors" being increasingly employed by schools.

When I move I am considering other options, including a return to the civil service (I did this many many years ago) as I've never really warmed to supply after such a long time in a permanent job. But I always have the option of supply work to fall back on if nothing else turns up. I reckon I have the luxury of a month or so to try for alternatives before cold economics rears its ugly head and my hand is forced.

One thing is for sure, I'm feeling increasingly positive for the reasons in my next post.

I wonders actually if I didn't find work immediately, would I be able to sign on and recieve Housing Benefit as I do now, even though I'm new to the area.
  • Jay.

Thankyou so much for that advice. The main remaining worry I had was about Landlords turning their nose up at me as an ex-bankrupt. The fees also were a concern. Not too bad if you pay and are accepted, but how many rejections and losses of "application fees" could I possibly afford.

I have checked out your site and there are 4 flats that look very interesting. Unfortunately too late for me to call now obviously, but will in the morning.

Only problem now. I should be asleep. I'm setting off in 3 hours and have a busy day tomorrow! Ah well. Not gonna sleep now anyhow.

Seriously Jay. It is such a great weight of my mind that - wish I could thank you 100 times.

    hiya

so sorry you have had this horrible experience, but reading through all the help and advice given and your postive posts since you first posted. looks like you are on the road to recovery in a lot of ways so well done to you and the others who have supported you so far

keep happy and good luck for the future, great that something like this forum can at least try and keep people a little motivated with a bit of support, human kindness just seems so lacking in this society and so its nice to be able to just say hello, and wish someone good for a change

ciao for now - def off to bed up early too in the morning MAZ

  • Thanks Maz.

Yes, I really think I'm sorted now. In fact it was a very pleasant experience dealing with the estate agents. I was stunned! Only one had any issue with an ex bankrupt who has a guarantor, and even they got back to me and agreed to take me with 6 months rent up front.

I've found a lovely flat, and am off for ANOTHER 300 mile round journey tomorrow to sign the papers.

The only hitch I had was with the cowboys I was supposed to sell the car to, but managed to sell that today.

So thanks all - a happy ending (touch wood).
