Intrum Justicia

Hi everyone.

I was looking for some advice please.

I had a phonecall recently from these idiots, asking me for my name and address etc etc but as i wasnt sure who they were i refused to acknowledge anything but my name. This obviously annoyed them as they got fairly hostile and hung up. A quick internet search revealed they work for ebay and on checking my account i realised i was overdue paying £16. I promptly paid, but Intrum proceeded to call me twice daily for 3 weeks saying i still owed £8 quid, which i presume to be their admin fee. Due to their rudeness, i refused to pay, so they then turned to bullying tactics, basically saying they were

1. Sending debt collectors round.
2. Were upping the fee.
3. Blacklisting me.

My response to the above was

1. Go ahead. You dont have my address and if you did, unless sent by a court id remove the goon from my property, i can look after myself.
2. Up it to a million quid for all i care, your not getting a bean.
3. Feel free, i dont need to obtain credit at the moment.

These idiots cotinued to call twice a day, so i gave them the run around, leaving the phone off the hook, telling them i enjoyed our daily chats and asking the call operative out to dinner where we could discuss finding her a more rewarding career over a nice bottle of wine etc etc. After one last call at about the 3 week mark, when they asked how i was intending to pay, i responded with "i never, ever intend to pay for as long as i live, good luck finding me and ill look forward to court". This stopped the calls. About 3 weeks passed with nothing then today ive recieved another letter at my parents address, again threating to increase the bill and take me to court.

The letters are going to my parents home as thats where my ebay account was first registered when i opened it years and years ago as a teenager. Ive not lived there for ten years now and so i told intrum the address on file was no longer mine. So, what should i do?

Are these idiots likely to turn up at my parents house? I dont want them hassled, although ive told them about this dispute and they arent bothered anyway.
Can Intrum just increase the amount?
Am i likely to end up in court one day?

I know its only £8, but i dont take to being bullied and spoken to like an idiot. These people were proper offensive. Should i just pay them for effectively nothing? I settled the actual debt with ebay as soon as i became aware of it. These just seem like trumped up charges by a very unprofessional company chancing its arm on making money out of scaring people.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Regards.

I think it's unlikely they will send someone round - it costs them money. They may try and add charges but I'm sure you could contest them.
It's probably costing them more in phone calls, letters and admin than they are saying you owe.

Yep, I'd complain to Ebay too.

You could also send the letters back as return to sender, not known at this address not opening them obviously.

I got hassled by these people for months and months. It was Avon that was using them for me.

I agreed to set up a direct debit to come out every Friday when I got paid, but they never ever took the money, then would phone again complaining I hadn't paid! Etc etc etc. Then they stopped phoning and one day about 2 months later I received a letter saying 'thank you, we have just received the last payment we need from you'.

So I've kept that letter and I'm happy with that :D

Thanks for all your replies. Apart from Brownbake, who's obviously an idiot. I have no idea what hes on about with the property remark? It has nothing to do with property!? Also, i wasnt whining, i was just wondering what Intrum could or are likely to do and was hoping for some info from people who have actually dealt with them. And whether i legitimately owe them or not, which is debatable in itself, there should at least be courtesy and manners when dealing with people. Not just threats, harrassment and attempted bullying. I can only imagine how awful these people are with the elderly for example??

If they had rang and politely introduced themselves and then informed me in a civilised manner id incurred a small charge for being late with paying my ebay bill, id have (probably foolishly) paid them. As they, like brownbake, were rude and annoying, they can now f*ck off.

Many thanks to the rest of you for taking the time to try and help. Any more info would be most appreciated.

    Regards.

The reason they are asking so many questions is because they don't know who the debt belongs to, alot of e-bay accounts do not contain correct names, addresses, or dob.

the letters are on a cycle and will stop; the telephone calls will stop but i would threaten them with harassment and ask for proof of debt
