Thanks, I've corrected the typo0 -
Quite alright as long as people dont believe that my husband myself or my friends, family , and any body i have ever come into contact with has done this, as MBNA are suggesting. They even had the cheek to ask for details of everybody we knew so they could ""investigate "" them.0

Have you reported the transactions to the Police and obtained a crime reference number. You may find that MBNA are more helpful if this has been done - in fact you may also find that the police may tell you whether any similar cloning incidences have happened locally which would support your case.0

Further to what oxmatt said, have you (or the police) tried contacting Barclays to ask for any CCTV footage they may have of the ATM at the time of the withdraw?

Don't the ATMs themselves have cameras built in to them?0

No cloned chip and pin cards eh. The BBC and the police must be liars then

Press them for where the ATM's were, if they were abroad or the type that don't read chips (I have read of a case where the bank lied about this to the customer and finally confirmed to the police that the chip hadn't been read).
I have seen a few techie posts on other websites stating the chip can and has been cloned, so definately pursue this.
The only people chip and pin protects is the banks.
oops just noticed you said the ATM's were in the UK.
Good luck

I wish it were that simple. They have sent us a letter very discretly saying that myself or my husband are guilty of fraud, have to pay the £1,700 and the matter is closed.. They have stated that they will not enter into anymore correspondance. that the letter is their final response, and go to Financial Ombudsman if not happy. (and we all know just how not independent they are). The point that makes our case different from others is that we had the original card in our possesion while money was taken from an ATM (cashpoint) machine( that suposedly read the chip) in this country. using according to MBNA the original. . But one embedded chip and pin card cannot be in two places at once. and according to the banking industry it is impossible to clone the chip. After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
